Sami Zayn plans to wrestle until the wheels fall off because he knows it can all be taken away anytime.
Sami Zayn has been one of the most consistent performers in WWE for a long time now. When he first debuted on the main roster, his run as a face didn’t see him doing anything significant.
When he turned heel five years ago to align with Kevin Owens, he became one of the most entertaining personalities on weekly television. Vince McMahon saw his potential and gave him memorable angles and two runs as Intercontinental Champion.
He is currently locked in a story with The Bloodline doing their bidding to become an honorary member. Being paired with the top stars isn’t a small deal, and Zayn has made every appearance memorable.
While speaking with Stone Cold Steve Austin on his Broken Skull Sessions, Zayn gave his summation on the remaining duration of his career. He didn’t seem to want to put a timetable on his remaining years as he feels it could go at any time.
“If it’s not taken away, I’ve no idea, till the wheels fall off, I suppose, and then when they do, I’d love to run my mouth and be Bobby Heenan or be Paul Heyman.” (H/TWrestlinginc.com)
Zayn has been wrestling since 2002 and was a seasoned veteran by the time WWE signed him. By this time, a lot of wrestlers would be feeling the ware and tare of their profession.
However, Zayn won’t let that stop him and plans to go until the choice is made for him. Fans shouldn’t fear him leaving anytime soon though, as he signed a contract extension at the start of this year.
Zayn is not currently booked for SummerSlam this weekend as he’s sitting out with a legitimate injury. This would explain why he has not been wrestling and has instead done non-physical segments.
Fortunately, the severity isn’t as such that it will keep him out for a prolonged period.
