WWE have announced that the scheduled Hell In A Cell Match between Reigns and Mysterio, will now take place on tonight’s edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
At this time no reason has been given as to why WWE made the decision to move the match from the PPV to a television episode, but fans have flocked to social media to speculate.
A popular theory among fans is that the match will result in an angle which will lead to Roman Reigns defending his Universal Championship against the son of Rey Mysterio, Dominick Mysterio, at the Pay-Per-View instead.
Another theory is that the Hell In A Cell stipulation will now be moved to another match on the card, likely a women’s one. WWE have faced a lot of backlash over the past few weeks, as as it’s currently scheduled there will be no women’s Hell In A Cell matches for a second year running.
The third and final popular theory is simply that this is an attempt by WWE to boost rating, which have dropped significantly below what FOX expected the show to draw when the television rights were bought in 2018.
You can watch SmackDown tonight at 7pm ET on FOX.
