Pro Wrestling NOAH has recently held NOAH THE NEW YEAR 2023. WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura returns to Japan to face The Great Muta, Kaito Kiyomiya puts the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Kenoh, Junta Miyawaki challenges AMAKUSA for the GHC Jr Heavyweight Title and more.
Welcome to another edition of Wrestling Republic’s coverage of Japanese Wrestling. This time, we’ll put the focus on Pro Wrestling NOAH and its latest event.
The promotion has recently held NOAH THE NEW YEAR 2023, which took place from the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan and presented some very interesting in-ring action. So, with nothing else to say, here are the full results of NOAH THE NEW YEAR 2023:
- Singles Match: Yasutaka Yano defeated Taishi Ozawa – Yano pinned Ozawa with the Fisherman’s Suplex Hold.
- 6-Man Tag Team Match: Masa Kitamiya, Daiki Inaba & Yoshiki Inamura defeated Muhammad Yone, Akitoshi Saito & Shuhei Taniguchi – Inamura pinned Yone after hitting Muso.
- 6-Man Tag Team Match: Dante Leon, Ninja Mack & Alejandro defeated KONGO (Shuji Kondo, Tadasuke & Hi69) – Alejandro pinned Hi69 with Cazadora con Giro.
- 6-Man Tag Team Match: Hijo del Dr Wagner Jr, Atsushi Kotoge & Seiki Yoshioka vs Masaaki Mochizuki, Susumu Mochizuki & Mochizuki Jr – Susumu pinned Yoshioka after hitting the Mugen Package.
- 8-Man Tag Team Match: Masakatsu Funaki, Katsuhiko Nakajima, Manabu Soya & Hajime Ohara vs Kazuyuki Fujita, Kendo Kashin, Nozawa Rongai & Hiroshi Hase – Hase pinned Ohara with the Northern Lights Suplex Hold.
- Singles Match: Jack Morris defeated Timothy Thatcher – Morris pinned Thatcher after hitting the Tiger Driver.
- Shortly after the match ended, Jake Lee makes his way to the ring to confront Morris. After a brief staredown, both men shake hands and proceed to hug.
- GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship, Singles Match: AMAKUSA (c) defeated Junta Miyawaki to retain the GHC Jr Heavyweight Title – AMAKUSA pinned Miyawaki with a Modified Crucifix Pin.
- GHC Tag Team Championship, Tag Team Match: Takashi Sugiura & Satoshi Kojima (c) defeated Naomichi Marufuji & KENTA to retain the GHC Tag Team Titles – Kojima pinned Marufuji after hitting the Western Lariat.
- GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship, Tag Team Match: Yoshinari Ogawa & Eita defeated YO-HEY & Kzy (c) to become the new GHC Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Champions – Eita pinned YO-HEY after hitting Imperial Uno.
- GHC Heavyweight Championship, Singles Match: Kaito Kiyomiya (c) defeated Kenoh to retain the GHC Heavyweight Title – Kiyomiya pinned Kenoh after hitting the Henkei Shining Wizard.
- Singles Match: Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The Great Muta – Nakamura pinned Muta after using the Poison Mist and hitting Kinshasa.
- Shortly after the match ended, Nakamura offered some words to Muta. Both men proceed to leave the stage together, while receiving a huge ovation from the crowd.
