Pat McAfee and The Rock have returned to WWE on the recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Denver, Colorado.
On the September 15th edition of Friday Night SmackDown Pat McAfee returned, opening the show.
He welcomed the WWE Universe to SmackDown in Denver Colorado. While Pat McAfee was addressing the crowd his WrestleMania 39 opponent interrupted. Austin Theory enters the ring and wastes no time making digs at Pat McAfee.
The two go on to bicker back and forth for a bit. Theory called SmackDown was Austin Theory Live, but McAfee reminded him it was “the people’s show”.
Cue the return of”the People’s champion” The Rock. The Rock has not been seen on WWE SmackDown since 2019.
As Austin Theory was bickering with The Rock he was also mocking Stone Cold Steve Austin.
The Rock did not take kindly to that and led the WWE crowd in “you’re and a**hole” chants.
When Theory tries to get the upper hand on The Rock he is quickly taken to the mat.
The Rock then drops the People’s Elbow and so does McAfee.
Later on during the SmackDown episode the Rock and John Cena meet in a backstage segment.
Cena welcomes the Rock home back to the WWE.
On a SmackDown exclusive Pat McAfee was asked if he would be coming back to commentary. He said “I’m incredibly lucky that I got to work with Michael Cole, and I am still very confident that it will happen again”.
McAfee would also go on to say how grateful he is to be working with the best in the industry, like Steve Austin and The Rock. The WWE Universe has been buzzing with excitement after the return of both The Rock and Pat McAfee.
