Wrestling Republic’s Voting committee have awarded The team of Toxic Attraction, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne the Women’s Tag Team of the year award for the year of 2022.
“Women’s Tag Team Of The Year” was awarded to the team of women who shown over the past twelve months that they are the best Tag Team. Being the Best Tag Team is subjective as we look at their chemistry as partners in the ring. Their accomplishments and overall ability to carry a tag team division.
Voting Results:
Similar to the first award, Toxic Attraction was tied for votes in the original poll with AEW’s Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. Both had received 4 votes but the tie was broken 9 – 6 in favor of Toxic Attraction.
A tied for third occured with a trio of champions. The reigning NXT Women’s Tag Team champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. The reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team champions Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai. And Oedo Tai’s “Black Desire” Starlight Kid and Momo Watanabe.
The Magical Sugar Rabbits, The former team of VXT and Sasha Banks + Naomi had all received one vote as well.
NWA’s The Hex and Fukuoka Double Crazy were the nominee’s with zero votes.
Toxic Attraction:

“Toxic Attraction – Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne are women’s tag team of the year. They managed to find their footing in NXT and had a solid year alongside Mandy Rose.” – Mark Mumby (News & Scouting Showcase Writer)
“Toxic Attraction is the best women’s tag team because of the chemistry they have achieved that has established their identity as a tag team, not just two talented singles wrestlers pushed together. The best tag teams form a common identity and Toxic Attraction did this the best.” – Matt Cookson (Review Writer)
“Along with Many Rose, this duo has proven that they can become what the women’s tag division needs to become relevant. The women’s tag team division needs to be legitimized and these are the two that can take it in the direction it needs to go.” – Ignacio Pinalez (Opinion Writer & Take It To The Table Guest)
“Toxic Attraction as a tag team walked into the year as NXT women’s tag team champions. Aside from dropping the titles to Cora/Roxanne and then being the team to take the lose by Katana and Kayden. NXT’s women’s tag team champions have lacked importance since they lost the championship. I feel they deserve this award.” – Coby Galenzoski (Head of Reviews & Co Host of Republic Ramble)
Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter:

“There were some teams in the NXT tag division that nearly won this one for me, but I have to go with Dr. Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter. While they did not hold titles themselves, the way Jamie Hayter was able to get over with the crowd throughout the year given the dynamic between the two was outstanding. Jamie Hayter is the World Champion now and a lot of the work that was put in along the way can be traced directly back to her matches teaming with Dr. Baker throughout this year.” – Clark Taylor (Reviewer & Republic Ramble Co Host)
“Don’t know most of these teams, but this one had the more well rounded dynamic.” – Dakota Mayes (News Writer)
“Ok so Britt and Jamie in my opinion have great chemistry together. The story being told so far is strong and the fact it involves and organically over wrestler makes me look forward to their inevitable feud. Their matches together have been the best in the division hands down.” – Robert Chaos (Host of Take It To The Table)
“Baker and Hayter, what a duo. These two wrestlers both show excellent talent as performers . As single competitors, they are able to show their talent and skills as wrestlers. They as well bounce off each other through their promos and genuine friendship that comes through their interaction on AEW TV. With Hayter as AEW Women’s Champion, a feud between these long time allies could spill into a feud leaving them as true mortal enemies.” – Soul (Host of Soul Sessions & Regular Guest on Take It To The Table)
Katana Chance and Kayden Carter:

“This one was tricky, but Katana and Kayden are deserving winners. The potential they show and the innovation they are bringing to WWE’s women’s division is something else, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these two.” – Ben Wagner (Opinion Writer & Lions Of The Republic Co-Host)
“Katana Chance and Kayden Carter are one of the most entertaining parts of NXT and are really fun to watch every week. They have a great energy and bring value back to the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships.” – Olivia Quinlan (Head Of News)
Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai:

“Dakota & Iyo have revitalized the entire WWE Women’s Tag Team division. Both women have shown their talent during their NXT days and, with Bayley’s guidance, continue to show everyone why they could become one of the toughest factions if led in the right direction.” – Tomas Gramajo (News Writer)
“Damage CTRL have been really entertaining since joining the main roster. Both Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky have helped bring back some importance to the Women’s Tag Team Championships. I’m more interested in the championships because of them, Bayley also deserves a lot of credit as well. “ – Archie Carter (News & Opinion Writer)
Black Desire:
“Black Desire might be one of the best women tag teams in 2022, with them attracting international and national fans. Oedo Tai in general might be the best female faction in 2022. “ – Suki (Japanese News Writer & Lions Of The Republic Co-host)
“While part of me was tempted to choose Fukuoka Double Crazy for their impressive title reign together in Stardom. I instead have chosen another team from Stardom, Black Desire. While Black Desire didn’t hold the tag titles for too long. They certainly impressed in every tag match they were in together. The duo brought many eyes to the Stardom product and kept viewers entertained. “ – Ben Allison (Owner Of Wrestling Republic and Graphic Artist)
Magical Sugar Rabbits:
“Magical Sugar Rabbits are the best, they have been together since 2018 with almost perfect synchronization in the ring. In each fight they are even better, definitely the standard on the wrestling industry.” – Gabriela Boteo (News Writer)
VXT:

“Probably one of the most underrated teams on this list. The two real-life best friends and former women’s champions teamed up for a short run that included a Knockouts Tag title reign. They are solid performers and had the potential for a longer team up.” – Anthony Ricciardi (Head Of Opinions)
Sasha Banks and Naomi:

“Sasha Banks and Naomi are history makers and trendsetters. They made history by becoming the first african american women to hold tag team titles. “ – Savannah Gall (Head Of Scouting Showcase & News Writer)
