GOOD: Before the match, Team Raquel Gonzalez and Team Dakota Kai began brawling & the crowd was very hype. This lead up to the match starting and this was a great way to start the show.
GREAT: Kay Lee Ray defeated Dakota Kai in a very entertaining and hard hitting ladder match to earn the advantage in the Women’s War Games match.
Result – Ray Grabbed The Briefcase
Dakota Cohen WR Star Rating – 3.75 Stars
GOOD SQUASH: Cameron Grimes defeated Andre Chase in a very fast match that was a much needed win for Grimes.
AVERAGE: After the match, Hudson came out and showed Grimes on the screen what he may possibly look like after their hair v hair. This went on a bit too long and was a little boring. Once Hudson stopped talking, Grimes went after Chase and tried to shave Chase’s hair but one of his students pulled him out. Grimes then said he’s going to shave him bald. This whole segment felt a little unnecessary, but it wasn’t bad.
GREAT: Alicia Taylor asked team 2.0 how they feel going into the match later tonight versus Johnny Gargano. Hayes said that Gargano has had the moments for years and that ends Sunday. Waller got on the mic and said they will beat the Black and Gold Team and that includes LA Knight. Breakker then started making fun of Ciampa and said they are going to beat the Black and Gold Team. Tony D’Angelo started talking on the mic and said the four opponents paved the road, but the road has potholes and they will put the Black and Gold Team there. Taylor then announced Breakker is the one to compete against Gargano tonight. Gargano then came out and said the five men in the ring wouldn’t have a ring to stand in if it wasn’t for him. Gargano called Breakker a “booty nephew” and said that Breakker should leave everyone in the back tonight and show everybody he’s great. Breakker accepted. This was very entertaining.
GOOD: Von Wagner and Kyle O’Reilly defeated Legado Del Fantasma in a very good number one contender’s match for the NXT Tag Team Championship. The crowd did not seem pleased but the match was good nonetheless.
Result – Wagner & O’Reilly By Pinfall
Dakota Cohen WR Star Rating – 3.5 Stars
SATISFACTORY: Joe Gacy was in the ring talking about inclusivity and he said he brought three people. He brought in two men and one woman and said he did this for inclusivity. This was a weird set up.
BAD: Joe Gacy then wrestled the first man and beat him fairly quickly. Right as he was about to wrestle the woman, Diamond Mine came out and Malcolm Bivens and Gacy went back and forth on the mic and told Strong to come in the ring alone, basically as soon as Strong came in he went after Gacy until Gacy hit him with his finisher. Harland then pulled Gacy out of the ring before the Creed Brothers could get to him. This just felt so weird and the crowd proved that.
GOOD: Solo Sikoa defeated Edris Enofé in a pretty good quick match that showed Enofé’s skills pretty well.
Result – Sikoa Wins By Pinfall
Dakota Cohen WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars
AVERAGE SQUASH: Indi Hartwell & Persia Pirotta defeated Valentina Feroz & Yulisa Leon in a squash match. This was alright, but nothing great.
MUST WATCH: Bron Breakker defeated Johnny Gargano in an absolutely fantastic match to win the advantage in the men’s war games match. The crowd was heavily invested in this match and both men are extremely over.
Result – Breakker Grabbed The Briefcase
Dakota Cohen WR Star Rating – 4.25 Stars
Overall, this was a pretty good episode of NXT 2.0, minus everything to do with Joe Gacy and Diamond Mine. With two standout matches this week, NXT 2.0 is showing that they are not just producing quality characters, they are also producing high quality contests. The main event was one of the best NXT 2.0 matches thus far and Breakker continues to shine.
