In what has first reported by Sean Ross Sapp, and later confirmed on NWA Powerrr, an all womens pay-per-view is being run on August 28th, in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mickie James has also been signed as an executive producer for this show, getting out of her 90 day no compete clause after being released from WWE last April as part of their budget cuts.
Appearing alongside NWA Owner Billy Corgan, James stated that this is something shed wanted to do for a long time but has been “cut off at every oppurtunity”, referring to her pushes for an all women branded show in WWE.
She also went on to thank Billy Corgan for giving women’s wrestling a chance to show it can draw money and be at the top of a marquee alongside men.
She stated that she “wants to gather the best women in the world to compete”, indicating at the NWA/AEW partnership to continue well past september, with former NWA Womens Champion Thunder Rosa making multiple defenses on AEW programming.
This is a monumental announcement and will hopefully bring new eyes to NWA, who has been struggling amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, even prompting a shutdown last year.
