This morning here in Japan. New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Kota Ibushi has been diagnosed with Aspiration Pneumonia.
Aspiration Pneumonia is a type of Pnuemonia that is caused by a large amount of material from the stomach or mouth entering the lungs. Symptoms include wet coughing after eating and and throat clearing.
Kota Ibushi has been absent from the ring from the Summer Struggle In Sapporo due to side effects from the Covid 19 vaccine. As a side note, Aspiration Pneumonia is not one of the side effects of the vaccine. He was also tested and he has not tested positive for COVID.
NJPW put out this statement.
“In order to give Ibushi more time to make a full in ring recovery, he will be absent from cards on July 22 and 23 in Osaka, as well as July 24 in Nagoya. A final decision on his participation at Wrestle Grand Slam on July 25 will be made after assessing Ibushi’s recovery.
As a result changes will be made to the cards in Osaka and Nagoya as outlined below. We apologise to fans who were looking forward to seeing Ibushi wrestle.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling deeply apologises for the concern and inconvenience caused by this news. We appreciate your understanding, and hope you join us in wishing Ibushi the very best in his recovery.”
Due to this, Ibushi will not compete in the Summer Struggle Osaka and Nagoya shows. His match at the Tokyo Dome with Shingo Takagi has not been cancelled yet but we do not know his Tokyo Dome status. We wish Kota Ibushi a fast and healthy recovery
