As seen during tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite, more matches have been officially announced for the upcoming Forbidden Door 2023 PPV.
It was back on June 2022 that AEW and NJPW held the first-ever Forbidden Door PPV, which also marked the first joint event between both companies and became one of the best pro wrestling events of the entire year.
After announcing a brand-new edition of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door for this year, many fans got hyped about the numerous high potential matches we could see during the event. However, AEW and NJPW didn’t waste any time and announced the first two matches during the recent NJPW Dominion 2023 PPV.
Even though the expectations and hype are already on a very high level, AEW have decided to take things to another level and announced a few more matches for the event during tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite.
As seen during tonight’s show, AEW have announced more championship and high-stakes matches will be taking place during AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023. About this, the company announced the following matches:
- AEW International Championship, 4-Way Match: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata vs. Daniel Garcia vs. NJPW World Television Champion Zack Sabre Jr.
- AEW Women’s World Championship, Singles Match: Toni Storm (c) vs. NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale.
- 10-Man Tag Team Match: Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta), Konosuke Takeshita & Shota Umino vs. The Elite (‘Hangman’ Adam Page, Nick & Matt Jackson), Eddie Kingston & Tomohiro Ishii.
- 6-Man Tag Team Match: Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara & Minoru Suzuki vs. Sting, Darby Allin and a mysterious tag team partner to be announced on this Saturday’s edition of AEW Collision.
- Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, First-Round Match: CM Punk vs. Satoshi Kojima.
- Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, First-Round Match: ROH Women’s Champion Athena vs. Billie Starkz.
Even though the matchcard is already looking pretty solid, there is still a posibility that AEW adds a few more matches, since we still have two more shows left before the PPV.
