TJPW & AEW star Maki Itoh has opened up on the possibilities of receiving a WWE contract, claiming she would turn it down to stay with AEW.
Maki Itoh is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in the world of Joshi Puroresu. The ‘Iron Head Queen’ has made a huge name for herself, captivating many fans around the world with her original character and incredible charisma.
Having wrestled for important promotions both in Japan and the US -such as TJPW, AEW & GCW– Maki Itoh gained a lot of support and approval from international fans ever since the moment she made her first AEW appearances.
However, after becoming one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, many fans started to wonder if Maki Itoh received an offer from WWE sometime in 2022. While addressing this on a recent talk with Steve Fall of WrestlingNews.co, Maki -via her translator- said:
“No, nothing. The reason she became this popular is thanks to AEW. Whatever happens, even if WWE gives her a cheeky offer from nowhere, she would not accept it and she would stay right beside AEW all the way.”
Maki Itoh & Her Goal For 2023
In addition to what she stated before, Maki Itoh moved on to explain her goals for the new year. When reflecting on this, Maki -via her translator- said:
“In Japan, she wants to get a title belt, obviously. She feels maybe a tag team title belt would be really nice, just about now. Where for America, she wants to go back to being on AEW television again. As you know, there is only so much time available on American TV and you can’t really leave much of an impact due to how much time you get to be on TV. She definitely wants to leave a big enough impact to where everyone will remember the name of Maki Itoh.”
As of right now, it is still unknown when Maki Itoh will be making her return to AEW Television. However, there is no doubt that the future looks pretty bright for ‘The Cutest Pro Wrestler In The World’.
