It is now time for my April 2022 best matches of the month list. Please keep in mind these are just my opinion of the best matches I saw this month and is not a definitive list and is not the official Wrestling Republic ratings and rankings.
I’m sure there are matches that I may have missed but there are only so many hours in a day and only so much wrestling I can watch. So, please feel free to suggest matches in the comments, as it is possible, I haven’t seen them or maybe they just didn’t make my cut. If I haven’t seen it and I’m able to check it out, it may make my end of year top 25 matches list. If it just didn’t make my cut, if I have time and I’m able to I’ll re-watch the match and re-consider it for my end of the year top 25 matches list.
The top 25 list at the end of the year will be in order and will be made up of my Match of the Month winners, which are guaranteed a spot and the remaining 13 slots will be other top matches from my monthly lists.

MATCH OF THE MONTH: Seth Rollins vs Cody Rhodes – WrestleMania 38
This was a stacked month, but for me it came down to four matches, this one, FTR/Briscoes, Ospreay/Blake Christian & Dragunov/Strong. For me it was the story, buildup and delivery on the biggest stage that made the decision for me. I went back and watched these matches again and that feeling that this match gave me was so different than the others. From the delay of Cody revealing himself to the production of the American Nightmare being completely unchanged, to the match itself they hit an absolute grand slam with this one. The buildup of will it be Cody and being on the edge of your seat as a fan waiting to hear the music, will it be kingdom or smoke and mirrors or maybe something else entirely, we didn’t know until it played. The whole presentation reminded me why I am a fan for special moments like this and then they delivered an absolute classic on the grandest stage of them all.
