Kris Statlander made her long-awaited return during AEW Double or Nothing 2023, defeating Jade Cargill and becoming the new TBS Champion.
Kris Statlander is someone who has been on the sidelines of AEW television for quite some time now. After suffering a devastating injury last year, Statlander had no other choice but to being on the sidelines while recovering from her injury and aiming to make an in-ring return.
The injury came in the worst possible moment, since many sources had stated that Kris Statlander was preparing to receive a huge singles push that would possibly award her an opportunity to challenge for the TBS Championship.
However, after many long months of intense rehabilitation, Kris Statlander finally made her long-awaited return during tonight’s AEW Double or Nothing PPV.
Shortly after Jade Cargill defeated Taya Valkyrie and achieved her 60th consecutive singles win in AEW, ‘Smart’ Mark Sterling said that Cargill will defend the title anywhere and anytime, while also stating that there is no one left to challenge the champion.
Immediately after that, Statlander made her way to the ring and confronted the reigning champion. And, with only a few minutes and a vicious offense, Kris Statlander pinned Jade to become the new TBS Champion, while also ending her undefeated streak and historic title reign at 508 days.
There is no doubt that the return of Kris Statlander will bring a new air to the entire AEW Women’s DIvision, as well as opening a whole bunch of new opportunities for both the TBS Title and former champion Jade Cargill.
