According to the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer says that it is expected to be announced very soon that Kenny will be forced to vacate his AAA Mega Championship after the report that he is suffering from multiple injuries. The injuries have made him take time away from the ring. He will not return until reportedly February.

Along with vacating the championship belt, he will also have to be replaced in AAA’s main event, Omega vs El Hijo del Vikingo at TripleMania Regia II on the 4th of December. His replacement is also yet to be announced.

Although AEW has quickly explained his absence and has changed the storyline accordingly, it will be a shame not to look forward to the next Kenny Omega Match of the Year contender for a couple of months. He will no doubt come back stronger and more focused than ever. The storyline that he will come back to with the Young Bucks and Adam Cole is exciting even now, after the hints of a power struggle that AEW has been hinting at.

Hopefully, Kenny’s as soon as possible return is actually soon. AAA had him as their champion all year, and they have relied on him for a guaranteed star main event match for every pay-per-view. They definitely have star power in their roster, but it could be tough for them to fill that void. Omega’s championship reign has helped the company through the pandemic.

After the incredible year that Omega has had as number 1 in PWI 500 and AEW’s World Champion for most of the year, Kenny certainly deserves some time off. Wishing him a speedy and safe surgery and recovery.
