Jon Moxley is back and Brett Lauderdale was waiting with open arms.
On November 2nd, Tony Khan announced that Moxley had checked himself into an inpatient alcohol treatment program. Mox was the GCW World Champion & a main focus on AEW Television.
Speaking to John Pollock and Wai Ting of POST Wrestling, Brett discussed Jon’s return.
“He is on his own timetable. Of course, it was a wait-and-see. The circumstances that led to the uncertainty is one of those things. The ball is not in our court, it’s in his court. When he’s ready, and he tells us he’s ready to go, then we’re ready. We don’t make that decision, he does. We planned on having him, he told us from the start that he wanted to be there and it was an important event for him. He also, just for the record, he takes being GCW Champion seriously. He takes pride in that and likes being part of GCW. While I had to wait to officially count him in, I never counted him out. It was just a matter of waiting to hear from him, then, I heard from him and said, ‘I’ll be there.’ It was all very recently. I’m glad he’s going to be there,” he said.
Jon Moxley made his return to AEW Television Tonight & is set to defend the GCW World Championship against Homicide in the Hammerstein Ballroom this Sunday.
