Jon Moxley has spoken in a recent interview about how Wheeler Yuta became a part of Blackpool Combat Club.
Ever since making his in-ring return earlier this year, Jon Moxley has taken part in some of the most important moments in AEW television. He had an intense match with Bryan Danielson at AEW Revolution, which saw the arrival of William Regal and the begginings of the Blackpool Combat Club.
The Blackpool Combat Club has been a true dominating force ever since the beginning, winning tough matches at many AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage shows.
During a recent appearance at his wife’s podcast, the new Interim AEW World Champion has revealed that Wheeler Yuta’s addition to the team came due to an accident and that it wasn’t originally planned to happen.
“The thing with Wheeler was an accident,” he explained. “I was supposed to wrestle Brian Kendrick, hour before the show, that match is not happening … The show starts in an hour and Tony was like, ‘Wheeler!’ … so we go and have a little match.
That was either before or after Bryan did the promo, and he’s one of the guys, I think Bryan mentioned him by name, and then it just like, very naturally happened and before you know it, he’s in the group.” (Via The Sessions with Renee Paquette, H/T WrestlingInc)
It is important to note that Moxley referred to his match against Brian Kendrick, which was planned to happen at February 2nd’s episode of Dynamite. Kendrick had to be pulled from the match due to the resurface of some controversial comments he made a few years ago.
Meanwhile, Wheeler Yuta had been aligned with Orange Cassidy and the Best Friends. He officially joined the Blackpool Combat Club on April, after an intense match with Moxley that earned him the respect of the entire group.
