The promo where Jey Uso kicked himself and his brother out of The Bloodline has been awarded with Wrestling Republic’s Promo of the Year Award for 2023.
Jey Uso and his brother Jimmy were one of the main difference makers for the Bloodline’s supremacy in WWE. However, after internal tensions erupted within the group, Jey took the determination to confront Roman Reigns and kick himself and his brother out of The Bloodline.
This promo would eventually lead to the well-remembered ‘Bloodline Civil War’, which had The Usos facing the team of Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa at WWE Money in the Bank 2023.
Sami Zayn’s Tribal Court promo and Cody Rhodes’ first promo battle with Paul Heyman ahead of his clash with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 were the runners up after a vote conducted by Wrestling Republic’s esteemed voting committee.
The Voting Committee’s Reasonings For The Choice
“Jey Uso kicking out Jimmy Uso and himself out of the Bloodline was the best Promo Of The Year as the moment had the audience gripped throughout,” said Wrestling Republic’s Opinion Writer Matthew McKay. He continued by stating that “It was definitely evident how Jey had progressed throughout the years with The Bloodline so for a moment we would think he is staying with Roman then when he switched and Superkicked Roman it was an amazing moment; It was a great set up of things to come within the next few months after this moment.”
Wrestling Republic’s Podcaster & Host of Take It To The Table Chaos agreed with this, stating that “the Jey/Jimmy Uso promo was perfectly delivered and had everyone hooked. and had an awesome tease up until the superkick.”
In addition, Wrestling Republic’s Opinion Writer Brandin Adams praised the emotions involved in the promo, stating that “the heart that Jey put into this promo could be felt all around. At first chastising Jimmy based on how the twins grew up and then turning it into flipping the script on the tribal chief and Solo Sikoa was a pure masterclass.”
What’s Next For Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso?
Even though they won the Bloodline Civil War, The Usos disbanded as Jimmy betrayed Jey to rejoin The Bloodline during his championship match with Roman Reigns in SummerSlam 2023. Ever since that moment, Jey went solo to Raw and Jimmy remained with The Bloodline in SmackDown, so fans could expect to see interesting things from both of them in 2024.
