John Cena is among the greatest superstars ever to set foot in a WWE ring. WWE has announced that the leader of the C-nation will return to Friday Night smackdown this week. However, it is not a one-off appearance, as he will be on the show for seven consecutive weeks. Cena returning is an excellent opportunity for WWE to elevate their younger talent. Furthermore, the best way to do that is to bring back Cena’s open challenge.
WWE’s Face John Cena

Cena is arguably the most recognisable superstar in the company’s history. In addition to this, he was the face of WWE for well over a decade. He has won many belts throughout his career, including the Tag Team, World Heavyweight, United States, and WWE Championship. Cena is tied with Ric Flair for most world titles at 16. He played the ultimate Babyface and never had a heel run. His ability to connect with the audience is well-made and truly special. Even though we booed him, it was a strong reaction. Cena is great on the mic and solid in the ring. He will go down as one of the best to do it. Cena gave so much of his career to the WWE, and it would be great to see him back in the ring.
What Is the Open Challenge

During the latter parts of his full-time run with WWE, Cena won the US title. As a champion, he would have an open challenge for his belt. Every week, different superstars would answer the call. Cena produced many great matches during the open challenges. For example, Cena’s battles with Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, and Neville were terrific. It also creates a platform for younger talents to showcase their skills to a larger audience. Names like Sami Zayn, Cesaro, and Kevin Owens truly benefited from answering Cena’s challenge. Many superstars need to get the screen time they deserve. Bringing back Cena’s open challenge could be the perfect way to get them on TV.
Who Could He Face

Thinking about the opponents Cena could face on his return is exciting. The first superstar that comes to mind is the Aussie icon Grayson Waller. The two had an interesting interaction and Money in the Bank and a match between the two would be entertaining. A match between Cena and Butch could be intriguing. It is because Butch is immensely talented in the ring and can produce a good performance with Cena. Finally, a showdown with LA Knight could be excellent. It would be good to see Cena take on a rise star.
