With the Elimination Chamber passing by, Liv Morgan’s road to WrestleMania now seems quite unclear. This article today highlights why I think Jade Cargill should be the opponent she faces at the Showcase of the Immortals. There are many names that Cargill could face in her big singles debut, but Liv is one that has really stood out as the best contender for me. This article will detail how mutually beneficial this match could be. So without further ado, here are my reasons.
Liv Morgan’s Current WrestleMania Prospects

After losing this match, a match that quite a few thought she should have won, the road to WrestleMania has become uncertain for Liv. Many online have jested about the idea of Liv being in the women’s showcase four-way tag match. While there is a chance of this happening, there are definitely better possibilities for Liv at WrestleMania. With her being one of the biggest stars in the division and with fans constantly demanding more of a spotlight on the women, it wouldn’t hurt anyone for Liv to have her own non-title match at WrestleMania. This would show a positive shift in the division because it may be the first ever non-title and non-gimmick women’s singles match at Mania.
Why would Cargill be the ideal choice, though?
Why This Match Makes Sense

Firstly, in Cargill’s debut at the Rumble (which was amazing by the way), Liv Morgan was the one to eliminate her. This makes the feud such an easy set up off this basis alone, and with the road to WrestleMania running shorter with each day, this is an easy feud to get out there.
Secondly, on the February 16th edition of SmackDown from this year, Liv was featured in a segment that also featured Jade Cargill. Sure, Liv wasn’t the focus here, but having her even in the same frame as Cargill could be foreshadowing. You could just pose the argument that Cargill was just standing up to Stratton, which is fair enough. But Stratton has another, much clearer, prospect for WrestleMania, leading me to believe that we aren’t going to see that match anytime soon.
I may be slightly grasping at straws here, but it is clear that at least some seeds have been planted for a potential feud. Cargill’s debut needs to be against a big star, and there aren’t many available who are bigger than Liv Morgan. Although you could argue against that, so here are some of Cargill’s other prospects and reasons why they may not be ideal for her at WrestleMania.
Other Prospects For Cargill

- Bianca Belair: When Cargill signed, there was a lot of hype around this match. While I would still love to see it down the line, I would not want to see it at Mania 40, as they have been building a feud between her and Tiffany Stratton. I feel like it’s a waste putting the Stratton feud to the side in favour of starting something completely new, so I’m in hopes that it doesn’t happen just yet.
- Naomi: While this match would definitely be great, it wouldn’t be great for Naomi’s image if she returns and takes back-to-back PPV losses. Plus, Naomi has plenty of other options for feuds (with the OC turning heel a potential Naomi vs. Mia Yim feud could be in the works. Just speculation, but there is potential of that happening).
- Raquel Rodriguez: I get that there would be an appeal to two female hosses facing off at WrestleMania, but there just isn’t enough build there. They could definitely make it a good feud easily, it would be much easier with Liv however, as she already has that Royal Rumble elimination over her.
How The Match Would Go

The actual match itself makes it even more apparent why Liv should be the one facing Jade. With Morgan most-likely playing the underdog out of the two (due to her smaller stature), the match will make Cargill look great as a result, with her presumably having stretches where she can show off her moveset when beating down Morgan. This would do a good job in getting the crowd familiar as to what Jade does, and what she is capable of in the ring. Having her hit a few of her signature big boot’s on Liv will definitely get the crowd behind how dominant Cargill can truly be.
On the other hand, it has been apparent that Liv has made some renovations to her moveset since returning, and in doing so, making her more pleasing to watch in the ring. I really think if Liv keeps showcasing these new moves, and keeps wrestling at the rate she’s wrestling at, she would be good enough to carry Cargill to a great match at WrestleMania.
