It’s undeniable that Carlito is an entertaining wrestler. His return at Backlash? Spectacular. That being said, after his recent in-ring performances, I do think there should be a slight change to how the WWE is booking him. This article explains how I think he should be transitioning more into an MVP-esc role and how it could potentially elevate some other members of the roster.
Recent Carlito Matches

From his two singles matches so far in the WWE, it’s clear that he’s slowed down, and that’s completely okay. The man is a 24-year veteran; it’s bound to happen. During his matches against Lashley and Escobar, it was evident that he’d slowed his style down. While he is far from terrible in the ring, it just gives me the idea that he could easily be utilised in a much better way than as a singles star.
This links to his transitioning to an MVP-esc role…
What I Mean By MVP-esc Role

What I mean by an MVP-esc role is a manager who occasionally wrestles. MVP, especially one-to-two years ago, would occasionally wrestle while dedicating most of his time to enhancing his faction or client with his mic skills. MVP would do this with Omos and the Hurt Business, and both of them would thrive from it a great deal. Especially with the Hurt Business, MVP was a key piece in Lashley becoming a world champion, as he covered his one weak area, mic skills.
How Carlito Could Adapt

It’s evident that Carlito is a cool figure to have on the microphone. He’s a well-known star from the Ruthless Aggression era (similar to MVP), which would already give people some sort of interest in whatever person he decides to manage. While a lot of people would benefit from the endorsement of Caribbean Cool, I think the most obvious candidates have to be the remaining members of the LWO.
How It Could Elevate The LWO

The LWO members pictured are the three that could easily benefit the most from Carlito’s endorsement. Carlito backing up Del Toro and Wilde could really be good, as he’s someone that the audience has already connected with. Furthermore, with Carlito cutting promos on their behalf, interest in them would immediately skyrocket. Similar to how MVP made Shelton and Cedric tag championship level, Carlito may be able to do the same for his boys if given the opportunity. This argument also applies to Dragon Lee, as he might face challenges due to language barriers, making it difficult for him to connect with an English-speaking audience. Therefore, Carlito could be the ideal choice to manage him.
