In the Best Of Super Junior 28 final Hirumo Takahashi faced YOH from CHAOS in Sumo Hall. Their match was the longest in BOSJ final history at 38 minutes and 30 seconds.
After almost 10 minutes of near falls, the match looked like it would end in a no-contest until Hiromu hit a powerful Clothesline and Time Bomb 2 for the win.
Takahashi immediately challenged El Desperado at Wrestle Kingdom 16 for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Now Takahashi is a three-time Best Of Super Juniors tournament winner. He won 2020 and 2018 as well.
Wrestle Kingdom 16 will be New Japan Pro Wrestling’s first time holding the pay-per-view over three nights instead of the usual two nights. The first two nights will be on January 4th and 5th in the Tokyo Dome, but the third night will be on January 8th in Yokohama. The card will feature 10 matches on each of the first two nights.
There will be Stardom wrestlers at this year’s Wrestle Kingdom 16 as well. It’s been confirmed that the pay-per-view will feature Starlight Kid, Tam Nakano, Saya Kamitani, and Mayu Iwatani. Most likely, any Stardom matches will be on the pre-show.
Wrestle Kingdom 16 will be available to watch on FiteTV.com and will air at 8:00 PM in Japan or 3:00 AM PST, 6:00 AM EST, and 11 AM in the UK.
