The participants for this year’s G1 Climax have been revealed by NJPW.
On Saturday, September 18, G1 Climax 31 will go off at the Edion Arena in Osaka. The competition will come to a close on Thursday, October 21 at Budokan Hall in Tokyo, with the finals.
On night two of Wrestle Grand Slam in the MetLife Dome, the contestants for each block were revealed:
A Block
- Kota Ibushi (7th Entry)
- Shingo Takagi (3rd Entry)
- Tetsuya Naito (12th Entry)
- Zack Sabre Jr. (5th Entry)
- Great O’Khan (1st Entry)
- Toru Yano (16th Entry)
- Tomoshiro Ishii (9th Entry)
- KENTA (3rd Entry)
- Tanga Loa (1st Entry)
- Yujiro Takahashi (8th Entry)

B Block
- Hiroshi Tanahashi (20th Entry)
- Kazuchika Okada (10th Entry)
- YOSHI HASHI (5th Entry)
- Hirooki Goto (14th Entry)
- SANADA (6th Entry)
- Taichi (3rd Entry)

The A Block winner will compete in the G1 finals against the B Block winner. The tournament winner will receive a briefcase and a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 16 if they win the tournament. Between the G1 finals and the Wrestle Kingdom, the briefcase holder must defend his championship shot contract.
