‘The Brilliance’ James Ellis has opened up on his goals, training and experiences as an independent wrestler during the global pandemic.
James Ellis is undoubtedly a rising star within the entire Welsh independent pro wrestling scene. Throughout this year, ‘The Brilliance’ has put on some solid performances in many indie promotions across Wales and the UK.
After making a huge name for himself in many local promotions, James Ellis had his big moment to shine when he overcame the challenge of four other wrestlers to become No Mercy Wrestling’s first ever Combat Legacy Champion.
During a recent appearance at The Soul Sessions, James Ellis joined host Soul to discuss his goals and experiences as an indie wrestler during the COVID-19 pandemic. When consulted about this, James said:
“The pandemic was a blessing in disguise for like not just one reason of me leaving the first training school and like promotion I was working for. My goals were that when everything opened up again like, for a start I was like I’m definitely going, this journey is not even started yet so we need the new chapters here.
So I definitely said I was going to train as much as I can with different people, that was one goal. The second goal was to get myself into shape, so I wasn’t in shape. I trained, I’ve always been in the gym since I started wrestling but I never understood like the diet and nutrition part of it, it’s the classic. I just didn’t understand how to eat properly and like how eating certain things would benefit my body and my training.”
James Ellis & His Wish Of Wrestling In England
Also during the interview, James Ellis addressed on his wish of wrestling in other countries than Wales, naming England as his main goal. When reflecting on this, ‘The Brilliance’ said:
“So it’s definitely to get in shape and it’s a simple goal, but I just wanted to wrestle in England. Those were the three things I can think of top my head that I wanted to do. I wanted to wrestle in a different country other than Wales even though it is my homeland and I love it here.”
