With the next installment in the WWE Fastlane PPV series coming up tonight, let’s take some time to reflect on the past and rank every WWE Fastlane PPV’s main event. So let us see what the best matches are on the usual final pitstop for WrestleMania (except for this year for some reason, but I digress).
If you want to check out some of the matches featured on this list, they may be present on this very handy playlist on YouTube, which is a compilation full of every full Fastlane match that’s currently available on YouTube posted WWE. You can access this by clicking HERE!
6. Fastlane 2017: Kevin Owens vs. Goldberg

Never has a wrestling match evoked so much unbridled rage inside of me. Not only was this match a mockery of everything Owens did in his title reign, but the knock-on effect it had caused one of the best WWE storylines of the past few years to have an incredibly unsatisfactory ending. Of course, I am referring to Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens, who were set to headline Mania that year until it was snatched away from them, and we ended up getting Reigns vs. Undertaker main eventing instead.
However, let’s look at the positives:
- Goldberg vs. Lesnar at Mania 33 was a really fun match (although it didn’t need the belt)
- This match had a sort of knock-on effect that led to Jericho joining AEW.
That’s about it for the positives.
5. Fastlane 2019: The Shield vs. Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley

When looking at the matches I had to watch for this list, I initially just brushed this off as a boring tag match (as I assumed that it would reflect the 2019 era of Raw), but I was gladly mistaken.
This was an incredible, emotional goodbye to the Shield. The combined emotion of the Shield coming to a close and Roman returning from leukaemia really added to this great affair. Everything in this post-Roman hot tag is some great six-man tag brawling and a great homage to what made the Shield so special in the first place.
Also, Seth shouting “ONE LAST MOTHER**CKIN TIME!” was such an incredible moment, which honestly gives me goose bumps whenever I watch it.
While this match was great, and I highly recommend it, with the quality of the main events in front of it, you will understand it’s low placement.
4. Fastlane 2016: Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Dean Ambrose

An absolutely star-studded match here. A real standout performance for Ambrose, that, in my opinion, really opened people’s eyes to just how good he is a singles star. The action in this match was great from start to finish, really gifting us tons of great spots in the process. My personal favourite being the two powerbombs through the announce tables to Lesnar.
The main, and really only, problem with this match was the poor finish, other than that, another match I recommend checking out.
