‘The Scottish Warrior’ Drew McIntyre has participated in an interview recently, where he explained that he wants to bring back and win an iconic WWE Title.
While speaking with Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORTS, McIntyre stated that- ever since he was a kid-he always dreamed of becoming the WWE European Champion, and that he would like to win it at least one time and then WWE could retire the belt again.
“Yes! I just want it because when I was a kid and I saw it I was like ‘ah man, I want to be European Champion’ and now I can’t because it doesn’t exist right now.
I don’t like too many titles and there are a lot right now, but I just wanted it when I was a kid. So just bring it back, let me win it and then I’ll retire it. You never want too many titles in the company because then it’s not as special. I think where we’re at right now is good, but give ol’ Drew the European title for young Drew.” (Interview Credit and H/T to TalkSPORTS)
The WWE European Championship was introduced in the late 90’s and lasted until the early 2000’s. During that time, the title was held by important wrestlers the caliber of The British Bulldog, Owen Hart, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, William Regal and Rob Van Dam- who became the last European Champion by unifying the title with the Intercontinental Championship in 2002-to name a few.
