WWE Raw announcer Corey Graves has teased the return of a ‘familiar face’ ahead of WrestleMania 38.
During the most recent episode of WWE’s ‘After The Bell‘ podcast, Corey Graves noted how he ‘couldn’t be more thrilled’ that someone may be returning to the company sometime between now and WrestleMania in April.
“And who knows, if the rumors do in fact prove to be true, we may have another familiar face back in the fold between now and The Showcase of the Immortals,” Corey Graves said. “This is one of those ones where: if you know, you know. I’m not going to speak to it any longer. I’m going to feed the rumor mill, that’s what I’m doing, I’m feeding the rumor mill. I’m stoking the flames and I am pouring gas on the fire. If the rumors are true, I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
While Graves didn’t name the returning Superstar, various names have been rumoured to be making their returns to WWE imminently.
The first is Cody Rhodes, who shockingly exited AEW earlier this month alongside his wife, Brandi Rhodes. Immediately following his exit, fans began speculating on where he could show up next, with Sports Illustrated reporting that Rhodes visited the WWE Performance Center during Elimination Chamber weekend to film content in preparation for his WWE return.
WWE surprisingly began dropping hints towards his return during last week’s episode of Raw, with Edge and The Miz making references to Rhodes during in-ring segments. On top of this, WWE also used their Twitter account to tease his return.
Also rumoured to be making an in-ring return is ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, who could potentially face Kevin Owens at WrestleMania. Despite Austin not yet showing up on WWE television, WWE may have already began building to the match, with Owens emphasising his hate for Texas, specifically Victoria, the hometown of Stone Cold.
A third name is rumoured to be returning to the ring is Vince McMahon. The WWE CEO is scheduled for this Thursday’s edition of ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, with recent reports suggesting that the two will begin a program which will include WrestleMania 38. This may not be the name Graves is referring to however, as McMahon has appeared on episodes of Raw over recent weeks as Austin Theory’s mentor.
