ROH World Champion and former WWE Superstar Cesaro recently named his dream opponent. Cesaro has revealed that if there is ever a crossover with NJPW, he would like to face Kazuchika Okada.
Cesaro is currently signed to AEW where he goes by the name Claudio Castagnoli. While his wait for a decent push in WWE seemed to be everlasting, it didn’t took long for him to reach the top since leaving WWE. The Swiss Superman won ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor 2022 where he defeated Jonathan Greesham.
While speaking to the Starrcast media recently, Cesaro was asked about whom he would like to face from Japan if there is a Forbidden Door 2. Cesaro mentioned Okada as his dream opponent citing history between the two as reason.
“I’d just pick Okada. Mainly because I have known Okada for over 10 years, actually when he wrestled at Chikara, he stayed at….. Me and Chris Hero had a house that a lot of the guys stayed at including Okada and then I saw him again when he was training in Mexico”, he said. “I think I have a picture of me and him when I still had hair and when he was not a Rainmaker yet. So, I think it’s definitely a lot of history there. So yeah definitely; that would be one of many guys that I want to face.”
Claudio had made his AEW debut at the Forbidden Door PPV. While Okada wrestled in a fatal 4-way against Jay White, Adam Page and Adam Cole at Forbidden Door. The NJPW star drew a thunderous applause from American audience.
After failing to recapture the title, Okada made a comment “Door is Closed”. A lot of fans drew speculation that this might be a hint that Okada won’t be returning to for any future events with AEW. Though this might be just for the reports going around that he’s likely to face more AEW wrestlers in future.
Rainmaker vs Claudio is dream match for many. Both these wrestlers are considered among the best of their generation. Well it remains to be seen whether we will be able to get a match between two, Claudio has certainly, made his thoughts very clear.
