PREVIEW: A night of pain, violence and tanlines? A stacked card sees Jon Moxley facing off against AJ Gray, The H8 Club taking on SGC & The Briscoes for the GCW Tag Titles, and GCW Spring Break’s first ever women’s match. Let’s check it out.

GREAT The H8 Club vs The Second Gear Crew & The Briscoes: Nick Gage comes out alone as Matt Tremont is unable to attend. The new belts are shown off and they look awesome. SGC & The Briscoes start things off with a brawl. The Briscoes wait no time in bringing doors into the ring. Justice gets double chair shots on the outside followed by a top rope knee to the skull set up on a steel chair. Warner throws Jay Briscoe through a door for the first 2 count of the evening. Nick gage returns the favour putting warner through another door. Gage stabs Warner in the head repeatedly with a piece of the door but its not working so Slade brings him the pizza cutter and Gage cuts him open. Slade has a cutter of his own and the two men hit stereo pizza cutters to the forehead of a very bloody warner. The Briscoes re-enter and clear house quickly followed by SGC with a symphony of chair shots. They set up the ring with doors and chairs preparing for more carnage. Gage returns with chair shots of his own and pulls out a stapler which he uses to staple Mance’s tongue to the door and follows up by putting Justice through said door, almost ripping out Warner’s tongue in the process. Gage hits a suplex to justice through a door on the outside. The Briscoes take full advantage and wail on Warner almost getting the 3 count but missing the mark. Slade faces both men alone and gets laid out with a lariat. Doomsday Device for the three count and The Briscoes are you new GCW Tag Team Champions. What a match. Slade was the perfect replacement and the right team went over.

Results: The Briscoes Win by Pinfall and are your new GCW Tag Team Champions

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3.75

AMAZING Blake Christian vs AR Fox: great fluidity in the opening spot of this match and the stereo kip up at the end was well choreographed. A nice diving dropkick in the corner from Fox as he rolls over the ropes for a quick kiss. A fantastic dropkick and kip up form the hallmark Blake Christian. These too work so fluidly together. Fox clears the top rope landing across Christian on the outside. A knee strike from Blake changes the tide and back in the ring he manages an early two count. Super kick from Christian but fox manages to escape leading to the AEW special AKA the Tope Suicida. Legs sweep into an amazing twister from Fox for a very close two count but wow that was amazing. Fox attempts a 450 but Blake rolls out the way and hits a standing splash for a very close two count. They exchange kicks and both hit each other with an Ace Crusher. A second and third ace crusher from Fox almost seals the deal but Blake used resiliency at the last second. Blake hits a Three amigos followed by a Frog splash in honour of the late great Eddie Guerrero but to no avail as Fox kicks out. A Lo Main Pain from Fox followed by a 450 splash still isn’t enough to put Christian away. A Spanish fly and a Golden Trident finally does the job and The Hallmark Blake Christian goes over.

Results: Blake Christian wins by Pinfall after hitting the Golden Trident.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 4

GOOD Mickie James vs Allie Katch: Mickie James is everywhere right now. From Impact to the Royal Rumble and now to the stepson of them all GCW Spring Break 6. Katch tidies up Mickie’s hair in the corner. Mickie has the advantage to start with taking Katch down to the mat almost immediately. Mickie James hits a nice big boot and falls into the splits for a two count. The two share a short ballad of chops. There’s some nice in-ring story telling going on with the two girls frequently taunting each other. Katch hits a trio and splashes to Mickie in the corner but only manages a two count for her efforts. Katch brings in a door and sets it up in the centre of the ring a trio of kicks and flapjacks and Mickie sends her through the door. A Thez press from the top gets her the two count. A piledriver from Katch only gets her a two count after the two share an.. *Ahem* intimate moment.. In the ring. Mickie then kisses Katch causing enough of a distraction for the DDT and wins her Debut GCW match. Katch gets mad at the crowd for booing Mickie James and puts her over after the match. She also reminds everyone this is the first women’s match on spring break and I for one hope it won’t be the last,

Results: Mickie James wins by Pinfall in her debut GCW match.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3.25

GREAT Spring Break Scramble Match – Nick Wayne vs Jordan Oliver vs Jimmy Lloyd vs Gringo Loco vs Alec Price vs Jack Cartwheel vs Ninja Mack: it’s an absolute spot fest to kick things off with a flurry of aerial assaults none of which land successfully. A nice dropkick from Price to Lloyd but gets a triple superkick for his efforts. Gringo gives a tope to the outside and clears house. Scramble matches are always so much fun and is a great way to showcase a lot of talent at once. Nick Wayne and Ninja Mack both work effortlessly solid futures in store for both of them. Wayne and Oliver shake hands then exchange chops with Oliver getting the upper hand before being taken out by Ninja Mack. Gringo hits a power bomb to Mack and flips over the ropes wiping out the rest of the competition on the outside. Nick Wayne almost gets a three count after a beautiful Code Red but it’s broken up by Lloyd. Price foils Lloyds pin attempt and then gets levelled by Cartwheel who cartwheels and flips over the ropes to the outside shortly followed by a 630 from Nick Wayne. One ace crusher and Nick Wayne gets the pinfall win.

Results: Nick Wayne wins by Pinfall after hitting an Ace Crusher.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3.5

AVERAGE Joey Janela vs X-Pac: Janela makes the controversial choice to wear Scott Hall-esque attire. I don’t know whether it was to pay homage to Scott or to Psych out X-Pac. Either way the crowd hate him. Janela rushes X-Pac as soon as the bells ring, attacking him in the corner. A solid power bomb from Waltman and a Bronco Buster attempt but Janela slithers out the way. Janela sends X-Pac into the ring post on the outside. Janela rearranges the furniture and struggles to get the door across the chairs on the outside. The two go back and forth for a while and not much of note happens until Pac finally hits the Bronco Buster and an attempt at the X Factor but Janela rolls away. The two duke it out for position on the apron, Janela getting the upper hand hitting a Fireman’s Carry slam on to the apron. Janela sets up a second door on the outside and X-Pac slingshots over the top rope sending both men through the door. Canadian Destroyer & X Factor from Waltman gets him the 2 count. X-Pac looks Gassed out at this point and the match slows to a back and forth of blows in the ring ending with a double lariat dropping both men to the canvas. Janela Locks in a crossface but Waltman gets to the ropes in time. A third door/chair setup makes its way into the ring with Janela. The two make their way to the top rope and Pac hits an X Factor from the top through the ropes but Joey gets a foot on the ropes breaking the count. I’m not a huge Janela fan but he’s the perfect heel in this match. Brainbuster off the top from Janela for a two count. Double stomp from the top through the door only bags him another two. Pac hits Janela with a chair sending him off the top turnbuckle through the table and to the floor on the outside. Chair shot to the head of Janela who hugs Pac and low blows him with a knee picking up the win. X-Pac gets emotional after his match and puts over GCW and says that he’s not done yet.

Results: Joey Janela Wins by Pinfall.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2.5

GOOD Jon Moxley(c) vs AJ Gray: The two men lock up and Gray takes the early advantage applying the side headlock followed by a flurry of clotheslines rebounding off the ropes. They exchange blows and AJ sends Mox to the outside and dives through the ropes wiping out Moxley. Mox takes it into the crowd and they brawl through the audience. It’s difficult to see the action for a while as the cameras just aren’t keeping up too well but we eventually get back to rinside and Mox enters the ring with a barbed wire board and sends Gray into it with a release Suplex kicking back and relaxing in the corner afterwards. He brutalises AJ with a pair of clippers and almost rips Grays leg open with some barbed wire. He wraps the barbed wire round his fist and starts laying it AJ repeatedly tearing into the flesh of Gray’s skull. He proceeds to whip AJ with the Barbed wire and wraps it round his neck for an assisted neckbreaker. Mox back drops AJ onto the barbed wire board again. This is an all out assault. Gray is getting absolutely decimated. Moxley sets up the board in the corner of the ring. AJ is finally able to turn the tide and send Mox through the table with a spear. An enziguri rocks Moxley and Gray follows it up with a power slam and a moonsault for the two count. An impressive display of endurance from both men. AJ pulls a ladder out from the ring and Moxley dropkicks it into his face through the bottom rope. Gray returns the favour sending Moxley through a steel chair. Gray lays Moxley across a door and jumps from the ladder through Mox to the floor below. The two men trade punches as they did at the start of the match bringing things full circle. A lariat from AJ gets him a cover but its not enough. Gray brings out the barbed wire light tubes and Moxley hits a cutter on to them but takes most of the impact himself. Death rider and Moxley retains the title. A bit of a botched ending and not much offence from AJ but a decent match overall.

Results: Jon Moxley wins by Pinfall retaining the GCW World Championship.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3

BELOW AVERAGE Alex Colon(c) vs John Wayne Murdoch: It’s time for your Main Event. It’s time for violence. Murdoch smashes Colon with a light tube to start the match early and seconds later Colon is sent flying off the top rope through the light tube covered table below and carves up his forehead with a knife. Colon retaliates by throwing a light tube at Murdoch and taking thighs back into the ring. Colon gets sent through yet another table and the red mask grows deeper. A light tube down the shirt and a strike to the back gets him a two count. Colon rolls through a pin attempt and kicks a lightube into Murdoch and proceeds to get some revenge butchering Murdoch with the knife. This didn’t look great to be honest. It looked like he was tickling him with it. Though violent, a lot of the shots in this match have looked very soft and safe. Notably the headbutts outside the ring which looked more like they were trying to kiss each other. The two brawl and Murdoch gets sent into a bundle of light tubes. A drop kick to a tube covered Murdoch only gets Colon a two count. Colon pops up/ no sells a pile driver and dives into Murdoch on the outside slamming him in the mouth with another tube. Colon hits the ring post and it seems as though Colon is injured. Colon gets his arm taped up but Murdoch keeps up his assault. Suplex on to the light tubes to Colon but a kick out at one. Murdoch hits him in the arm with a 2×4 and locks in an armbar for the Submission Victory and is your new GCW Ultraviolent Champion.

Results: John Wayne Murdoch wins by submission to become you new GCW Ultraviolent Champion.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2

My match of the night has to go to AR Fox vs Blake Christian. The offence and innovation on display from both men in that match was next level. The scramble match was a pleasure to watch and I truly can’t wait to see Nick Wayne in AEW and Ninja Mack in NJPW. They both have extremely bright futures ahead of them, I can’t praise them enough. Seeing Slade join Nick Gage in the tag match made me excited for the possibility of them two working together some more in the future. I hope do as they both compliment each other well gimmick wise. If you love violence and Hardcore Wrestling though maybe skip the main event. The strikes looked soft and I think Colon may have actually injured himself? We shall soon find out.

PREVIEW: The show kicks off with an introduction to all the wrestlers in order of appearance. A very UFC-esque event that may not be for everybody but if you enjoy violence you’re in luck! Two fantastic matches from both Thatcher & Moxley you definitely need to see. Let’s take a look at what went down at GCW Bloodsport 8.

BELOW AVERAGE Masha Slamovich vs Janai Kai: A classic striker vs grappler match up here with Masha taking Kai down into a rear choke pretty quickly shortly followed by a nice led lock with Janai getting the upper hound with a momentary ground and pound but Masha transitions straight back into the sleeper. Masha absolutely outclasses her opponent for most of the match with Janai getting in the occasional bit of offence. Northern lights into cross armbar and Masha picks up the win by submission.

Results: Masha Slamovich wins via Cross armbar

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2

GREAT Yoya vs Ninja Mack: Ninja de-masks on his way to the ring. it’s about to get serious. Mack offers Yoya a handshake but Yoya declines and the two lock up. A pretty slow paced match until Yoya hits him with a spinning kick and a second before Yoya puts Mack into a sleeper and the two roll out the ring. They wait out the ten count before fighting for position again. Mack hits a judo toss and attempts a capoeira kick but misses and lands an impressive flip. Yoya attempts a submission but Mack powerbombs him into the canvas. The two exchange blows. And Yoya gets the upper hand with a belly to back suplex. Mack attempts a gutwrench but Yoya counters into an ankle lock. Mack breaks free and immediately gets running slammed out of the ring. The two return to the ring and Yoya sets in a deep single leg lock. Mack then flies into the air and knockouts Yoya with a spinning 540 kick for the K.O. win

Results: Ninja Mack wins by Knockout.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3.75

AVERAGE Bad Dude Tito vs Royce Isaacs: both men look fantastic physically. Isaacs kicks things off with a wrist lock attempt. With Tito quickly countering into a sleeper. Isaacs wails on Tito, sending him to the floor outside. Tito returns to the ring and the two men exchange impressive suplexes. Tito locks in another leg lock really focusing his offence on Issacs legs but Isaacs counters and locks in a rolling guillotine for the submission finish.

Results: Isaacs wins via rolling guillotine

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2.75

GOOD Slade vs Alex Coughlin: The two square off nose to nose immediately. Coughlin gets the first takedown but Slade manages to escape. Coughlin delivers a flurry of vicious chops and gets a second takedown. Slade counters and hits him with a barrage of heavy elbows. The two exchange some New Japan calibre blows ending with Coughlin delivering a backdrop piledriver and Slade pops up immediately delivering a strong DDT. Coughlin locks in a rear naked choke and puts Slade to sleep picking up the submission win. After the match Slade smiles in the face of Coughlin looking tormented as ever.

Results: Coughlin wins via Rear Naked Choke.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3.25

AVERAGE John Hennigan vs Simon Gotch: John Hennigan gets Johnny Bloodsport chants which was fantastic. Gotch goes to the outside almost immediately, bidding for time. Hannigan gets a leg sweep takedown and the two begin wearing each other down on the mat. Hennigan finds the knee bar but Gotch breaks out hitting John with a few stiff blows. Gotch avoids all of Hennigans offence until John hits him with a lariat sending him to the canvas. Gotch gets up and hits a solid suplex but Hennigan gets to his feet and delivers a flurry of kicks to Gotchs leg and hip. Hennigan locks in an armbar but gets countered into a chinlock from Gotch. The two exchange blows with Hennigan getting the advantage he floats over him on the ground locking in a guillotine and Gotch taps out.

Results: John Hennigan wins via Guillotine

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2.75

BAD Marina Shafir vs Zeda Zhang: Both women exchange blows back and forth with Shafir getting the upper hand cartwheeling over her opponent and locking in a rear naked choke. Zhang counters but quickly gets taken back down by Shafir. Shafir picks Zhang up from the floor, gets to her feet and slams her into the canvas. Zhang manages to climb onto Shafir’s back and locks in a rear choke but Shafir throws her to the canvas. back on their feet the two exchange blows again. Shafir escapes from a choke hold and the two continue wrestling. Shafir locks in a crossface armbar and picks up the win by submission.

Results: Marina Shafir wins via Crossface Armbar.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 1.5

AMAMZING Timothy Thatcher vs JR Kratos: This is the match I’ve been most excited for Thatcher’s first match since leaving WWE. The two lock up and Kratos shows his power hitting Thatcher with a belly to back suplex. With every hit Thatcher looks more and more like he enjoys the pain and Kratos looks concerned. Thatcher shows his lack of ring rust applying pressure with a solid defence. He gets Kratos up stretching him across his knees with Kratos breaking free into a headlock on thatcher. Thatcher breaks free and starts delivering boston crab death drops followed by a side headlock pinning Kratos’ arm hitting a barrage of blows to his skull. Thatcher attempts a suplex but Kratos lands a crosbody and picks Timothy up for a suplex of his own. Kratos eats a knee and a heavy headbutt from Thatcher, sending him to the canvas dazing Thatcher in the process but giving us our first blood of the night. Kratos hits a Huge Lariat turning Thatcher inside out. He looks like he’s about to pass out from a side guillotine but escapes delivering a suplex to the giant. Kratos piledrivers Thatcher and finishes the job with a superman punch for the K.O Victory. The crowd weren’t too happy with the finish but i thought it was great.

Results: JR Krots wins by Knockout

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 4

GOOD Yuya Uemura vs Mike Bailey: Yuya pays homage to Inoki sporting a red towel around his neck. Yuya feels the sting from Bailey’s first kick but quickly delivers a strong take down landing Bailey on his head. Bailey gets a high kick to Yuya’s head, dropping him to the canvas. Yuya tries to defend from the floor but Bailey hits some strong kicks to his legs and torso. A Flurry of elbows from Bailey quickly transitions into a barrage of punches from Uemura. The two spill to the outside both showing fantastic offence so far. Back in the ring Bailey hits four kicks and just when you think Yuya is out he hits Bailey with an air raid splash into a cross armbreaker for the submission victory.

Results: Yuya Uemura wins by Cross Armbreaker

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3

AWFUL Josh Barnett vs Jonah: A slow match and doesn’t get much quicker. The two spend the first 2 minutes “wrestling” on the mat looking more like an extended rest hold. This continues on for most of the match and the crowd is pretty quiet. Jonah manages to lock in a crossface but Barnett escapes applying a cross arm-breaker to Jonah. Another side headlock from Jonah and the match grinds to a halt. Barnett hits a few leg kicks but Jonah counters with a giant crossbody putting Barnett down. Jonah rocks Barnett with a big strike to the head. Barnett retaliates but gets put down with a headlock the two return to their feet and Barnett hits two suplexes and locks in a leg lock forcing Jonah to tap. A very unexciting match overall.

Results: Josh Barnett wins by Submission

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 1

AMAZING Jon Moxley vs Biff Busick: the two go back and forth wrestling for position with Moxley getting the first takedown of the match trying to lock in an armbar but Busick breaks out. Clubbing blows to the back of Biff’s head and another takedown from Moxley leads to a side headlock to Biff who rolls over and gains side control. Moxley tries to break free scooping Busick up and slamming him to the mat. Stomps to the head from Moxley get transitioned into another side headlock from busick but Moxley counters dumping biff onto his head and big knee send him to the outside. Moxley delivers a suplex on the outside busting biff open. In the ring biff chops Moxley who graciously accepts the assault but a kick sends biff to the canvas. Moxely locks in a choke but Biff escapes delivering even more blows but Moxley returns biting Busick’s bloody head. Back to their feet both men exchange blows trying desperately to lock in a wrist lock. Busick hits two outstanding blows that send Mox to the canvas but Mox sees red and begins laying into Busick with some stiff strikes to the head. Biff gets in some offence of his own but Moxley changes the tide hitting busick with a deathrider. After receiving multiple knees to the head biff flips Moxley the bird, Mox responds with a running knee strike to the head ending the match by K.O. an absolutely brutal bloodbath from start to finish. Yet another fantastic match from GCW Bloodsport.

Results: Jon Moxley wins by Knockout

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 4

AVERAGE Minoru Suzuki vs Chris Dickinson: It’s time for your Main Event. A slow start as Suzuki calmly goes to work plotting out his offence almost immediately getting Chris in a headlock. Watching Suzuki breakdown his opponent piece by piece is always a nice treat. He escapes every submission attempt Dickinson tries. This match won’t be for everyone its quite slow paced and very mat based with lots of submission attempts and counters. Dickinson hits a heavy strike to Suzuki who sits up like the undertaker and the two exchange stiff chops back and forth with Suzuki gaining the advantage applying a leg lock receiving two strong chops to Suzuki. They return to their previous back and forth and Dickinson drops to his knees. A combination of slaps sends Chris to the mat again. A step up enziguri drops Suzuki followed by a brainbuster and repeated elbows to the head for the knockout win for Dickinson. Suzuki throws a chair and storms out of the arena. Dickinson says if you step in this ring you are in my house.

Results: Chris Dickinson wins by Knockout.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2.75

Overall A solid PPV from start to finish with very few stinkers. Moxley and Thatcher have to take joint “Man of the Match” for this card as the two were extremely impressive to watch putting on fantastic matches respectively. Ninja Mack pulled out all the stops and made me very excited to see what his future holds for him. If you’re planning on watching this PPV honestly just skip over the Jonah vs Barnett match, trust me it’s not worth your time. A fantastic display of violence and brutality very reminiscent of UFC. If you enjoy combat sports this is the PPV for you.

PREVIEW: The Show kicks off with a 10 bell salute for Scott Hall. Rest in Peace Bad Guy. A fair few stinkers but some great ringwork on display throughout the entire show featuring a fantastic match from Yoya & Alec Price.

BELOW AVERAGE YDNB VS Steve Scott & Archadia: Our opening match of the night is YDNB VS Steve Scott & Archadia. A solid fast-paced start ending with a head-scissors from Archadia. Charlie puts Scott’s phone in his shorts after they try taking a selfie mid-match. Guys Austin Theory and Prince Pretty want their gimmicks back. Charlie tiger hits a very nice blue thunder bomb but only manages a two-count. Plenty of exciting offensive from both sides so far. YDNB appear to be very over with this New York crowd. Steve Scotts manages to get Charlie Tiger to the top rope and uses his tag partner as a weapon hitting a head-scissors from the top turnbuckle.

duel big splash and swanton from YDNB for a close call two count, A beautiful spear from tiger and a fireman carry slam from Taylor for the 1. 2.. 3! and YDNB are your winners. A decent match overall some solid work from both teams and that blue thunder bomb was just spectacular. The right team goes over for what I feel to be a solid start to JCW March Madnezz.

Results: YDNB win by pinfall after Blue Thunder Bomb.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2.25

BAD Shazza Mckenzie VS Edith Surreal: The match begins with some good ol’ technical mat-based wrestling with plenty of submission and pin attempts from both ladies, Shazza balances on her neck at one point to avoid a pin which looked great. I must admit Edith looks fairly clunky and rigid in ring making a few of the moves look a bit sloppy but Shazza still looked solid for her first time on US Soil for a while. The ladies exchange rocking horse submissions and again this match is just counter for counter. By this point, the match has begun to slow down and the moves have started looking even more rough to watch. Disappointing to see from both Edith & Shazza. Shazza hits a nice-looking split stunner. But is having some trouble with her hamstring. Edith capitalizes on this and gets Shazza into a leg lock for the submission victory. This match felt like its went on for way too long with almost no aggression.

Results: Edith taps out Shazza with a Leg Lock.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 1.5

GOOD Steve Maclin Vs Cole Radrick: The two start off fighting for the armbar. Raderick is very over with this crowd as they chant his name for the first minute of the match. Maclin sends Radrick to the outside sitting him on fans lap and the two men begin exchanging blows. Radrick reverses a power-bombed into a back body drop and capitalizes with a running attack on the apron but Maclin reverses it sending Radrick flying into empty chairs in the crowd. Despite this, he only manages a two count before Cole gets his shoulders up. The crowd erupt into chants of “Cole Radricks my favourite wrestler”. The two exchange blows back and forth with Radrick hitting a tasty-looking drop-kick from the top rope kipping up and taking Maclin out with a lariat garnished with a top rope moonsault for the 2 count. Maclin hangs Radrick up in a tree of woe and hits a devastating-looking spear into the turnbuckles and still only manages a two count. Cole hits three very nice-looking cutters off the ropes and secures himself one of the biggest wins in his career so far. A fantastic display from these two beasts they kept up a great pace and managed to hold my attention throughout the entire match. Looking forward to seeing where Radrick ends up in the future the man has buckets of talent in the ring.

Results: Radrick wins by pinfall after hitting 3 Cutters.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3.25

GREAT Yoya VS Alec Price: A head-spinning start to this matchup as price picks Yoya up spins him around a throws him across the ring. Yoya attempts a head-scissors but Price manages to reverse into a handstand and hits a nice-looking crossbody. Yoya hits a Satellite head-scissors which was nice to see a very underutilized bit of offence. Price gets in a drop-kick to the back of a seated Yoya got a two count. Yoya attempts a cross-body but Price rolls through it and surprisingly manages to lift yoya and hit a power-slam. Price gets Yoya up into a torture rack and almost takes his head off with a heavy-looking slam into the turnbuckle. The two exchange blows and Yoya gets the advantage, hitting two vertical suplexes for a two count. Price drops Yoya face-first to the stage on the outside and Yoya flips off of it into price below. He misses a two count but gets a Boston crab locked in. price luckily manages to get to the ropes. Alec price hits a painful-looking buckle bomb on Yoya followed by a heel kick to the spin for the three count! Wow, what a match! This was extremely exciting to watch Alec Price’s offence was brutal throughout and Yoya sold for him like a champ. Both guys looked fantastic and if you only watch one match from this card I suggest this one as my match of the night.

Results: Alec Price wins via pinfall after a heavy Buckle Bomb.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3.75

BELOW AVERAGE Bam Sullivan VS Slade: Slade’s entrance is cut short by Bam as he takes him down and begins a heavy offence against him. He rolls out to find some doors under the ring. He sets one up in the corner of the ring a slams Slade through it with brutal aggression. Slade manages to cut Bam’s attack short hitting him in the head with a piece of the broken door and again repeatedly over the back. Bam retaliates getting a bin involved but Slade tries choking him out with a tee-shirt, flipping merch tables onto him. Slade choke-slams Bam through a door and starts beating him with a kendo stick, pieces of door, pretty much whatever he can get his hands on, and then hits an audience member with a trash can causing a DQ. Bam chases him down before he can attack the commentary team and the locker rooms empties to try and separate them. Bam wins by DQ and a rematch is scheduled for Planet Death. That match felt like it should have been filmed on a shaky phone camera on Worldstar. It was quite concerning watching the two men attack each other that stiffly and made me think that the two may have some genuine beef? Either that or Slade is a fantastic Psychopath.

Results: Bam wins by DQ after Slade attacks a fan.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2

AVERAGE 6 Man Scramble (Big Vin VS Brandon Kirk Vs Deklan Grant VS Marcus Mathers VS Azrieal VS Dyln Mckay): Mathers and Azrieal kick things off with the latter taking the advantage getting Mathers into an octopus hold. But Mathers escapes with a running knee strike on the apron to Azrieal. Mckay hits Mathers with a beautiful poisonrana. Grant Gets in a great sunset flip and Big Vin clears house with a dive to the outside immediately followed by a dive from the turnbuckle from Mckay. He follows that up with a beautiful Canadian Destroyer to Mathers. Grant hits Mathers with a stunner but is stopped in his tracks by Big Vin who powers him up into a power-bomb. Mckay & Mathers team up to take out Vin with stereo Dropkicks but then Mckay turns on his partner leading to Vin stacking both men up on his shoulders and dropping both to the canvas for a two count. Vin tries a choke-slam but Kirk stops him with a chair shot to the back. Big Vin sends him flying over the top rope to the outside. Mathers takes full advantage of this hitting buster to Kirk immediately following up with a perfect 450 splash clutching the win by milliseconds as Azrieal attempts to make the save. Mathers cuts a short promo post-match putting over the upcoming Dallas PPV and his match vs Nick Wayne. This match was just pure chaotic fun. Very few noticeable botches mixed with the fast-paced action and innovative offence which has become a staple of these scramble matches. Not the best ring work you’ll see this year but very enjoyable to watch.

Results: Mathers wins by Pinfall after 450 Splash to Kirk.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2.5

GOOD Grim Reefer VS Charles Mason: The two share a joint in the middle of the ring but Mason puts it out in Reefer’s eye. He tries to choke Reefer with a plastic bag but the referee takes it off him in time and reefer takes the opportunity and gains the advantage. He hits a cross-body to mason on the outside and throws him headfirst into the ring post. The two go back and forth for while but mason spits water into Reefer’s eyes and hangs on the ropes sending him to the outside with a drop-kick. He continues his attack into the crowd and begins biting him causing Reefer to bleed. Both men look slightly out of shape, particularly reefer but they are working well together overall. Mason tries to choke Reefer out with a rope but the referee confiscates it yet again mason gets distracted jaw-jacking with the fans and Reefer slams him off the ropes. Reefer starts smoking and hits a series of clotheslines capitalising with a swanton bomb for the two count. Reefer locks in a cross-face but Mason escapes by biting Grim’s hand. Mason tries for a Super-plex but Reefer reverses it into a top-rope DDT. Reefer sets up a door across two chairs and takes mason up to the top ropes and tries for another top rope DDT but Mason reveres into a spear through the door for a close 2 count. Mason tosses reefer into the referee taking him out. He covers Reefer with a plastic bag suffocating him but Dark Sheik makes the save returning him the favour wiping Mason out with the plastic bag setting Grim Reefer up for the three count and the win. I love the story this match told through its ring work. The repeated attempts to cheat from mason constantly getting foiled by his opponent. The joint seemingly giving reefer superpowers whenever he smokes it and the overall tone of the match made it very interesting to watch.

Results: Grim Reefer wins by pinfall after interference by Dark Sheik.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 3

AVERAGE Bill Dixon comes out and puts over the first all black hardcore main event match at For The Culture calling out his opponent Hoodfoot. He goes on talk about Effy’s Big Gay Bash and about how he is the number LGBT Wrestler in the world. A decent promo overall.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2.5

AVERAGE Billie Starkz VS Deonna Purrazzo: The crowd start booing Steve Maclin (Deonnas Husband) Who appears on the stage starting a chant I cat repeat here. The two take to the mat as soon as the bell rings exchanging submission attempts and sharing a lot of rest holds. The action grinds to a snail’s pace almost immediately, Deonna being distracted by the crowd repeatedly. Billie takes Deonna Down with a nice arm drag and the two attempt pins both getting near falls. Deonna nearly snaps Billie’s arm off. Billie gets dropped into the chairs on the outside and Deonna gets a 2 count, she follows up with another armbar which Billie manages to escape but not for long as Deonna hits her with a face-buster for the Win. She celebrates in the ring with her fiance to the dismay of the crowd. Not the best way to end a solid card but not an awful match either. The pacing was slow and the crowd were distracting but there was some nice ring psychology in play with Deonna’s repeated attacks on Billie’s right arm. A bit disappointing overall but not the worst match I’ve ever seen.

Results: Deonna Purrazzo wins via Pinfall.

Kofi Taylor WR Star Rating – 2.5

Overall JCW March Madnezz was a decent show, with a few good matches let down by a lack of good storytelling but still entertaining nevertheless. Yoya vs Alec Price was the standout match of the night for me both men putting on spectacular performances and that buckle bomb from Price is still making me wince. Radrick vs Maclin didn’t disappoint either with a real fun 6 man scramble to mix things up in the middle. The main event left a little more to be desired and they could have done with incorporating a lot more storytelling between matches but let’s be real here, that’s not the reason we watch GCW/JCW. Not a must-watch show but worth a look if you need some high-octane wrestling in your life.
