Austin Theory has been loved and praised ever since making the jump to the main roster. Even Vince Mcmahon himself filmed some segments with Theory as part of the plan to give him a push.
One of the most noticeable things in Austin Theory’s gimmick is his famous selfies he takes with his opponents and other members of the roster. However, many fans claimed this idea was stolen from released star Tyler Breeze’s gimmick.
In a recent interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Theory claimed:
“You see stuff online where people are like, ‘It’s ripping this off, it’s ripping that off.’ To me, it’s a different way of doing it and I’m going about it a different way. Anything that people might have seen before or think they might have seen before, they don’t want to get along with it because they’re like, ‘Well, it’s already happened.’ But I think what I do is totally different.” (H/T Sportskeeda)
Theory has a big match match coming up this saturday when he enters the Elimination Chamber match against 5 other men all looking to capture the WWE Championship. He also talked about this situation and what it meant for him:
“If anybody has a different opinion to that, that’s theirs, but I think it’s gonna be great. I think it’s gonna be so great when I take that selfie in Saudi Arabia with the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber. People can tweet all they want that they hate that. It doesn’t matter because that’s a selfie that’s gonna be in the history books forever,” (H/T Sportskeeda)
Both Theory and Breeze have completely different stories, wrestling styles and gear so the selfies don’t have that much of an impact on the rest. Theory might be a future WWE Champion but whatever happens in that match won’t change the bright future that Austin Theory has in front of him.
