It is now time for December 2025 best matches of the month list. Please keep in mind these are just my opinion of the best matches I saw this month and is not a definitive list and is not the official Wrestling Republic ratings and rankings.
I’m sure there are matches that I may have missed but there are only so many hours in a day and only so much wrestling I can watch. So, please feel free to suggest matches in the comments, as it is possible, I haven’t seen them or maybe they just didn’t make my cut. If I haven’t seen it and I’m able to check it out, it may make my end of year top 25 matches list. If it just didn’t make my cut, if I have time and I’m able to I’ll re-watch the match and re-consider it for my end of the year top 25 matches list.
The top 25 list at the end of the year will be in order and will be made up of my Match of the Month winners, which are guaranteed a spot, and the remaining 13 slots will be other top matches from my monthly lists.

MATCH OF THE MONTH: John Cena vs Gunther – WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
This is likely the most controversial pick I have made this year, but I stand by it that this match was everything it was supposed to be. Cena has been one of the most important figures in the history of wrestling and there was “perfect” way to do a retirement tour that would have satisfied everyone. There were plenty of bright spots during this farewell tour and Gunther is one of the best workers in the history of the business. Gunther was the right choice as the final opponent and he was the right choice to beat Cena. Despite what Jeff Jarrett and others want to complain about the finish, I strongly disagree with those complaining, but he gave up and he said never give up. Newsflash in life there are times you need to admit defeat; it is how you move forward after that is what is important. Cena admitting he had nothing left to give and his time was up is why the definitive tap out worked. It gave Gunther 97 Shawn heat and wrestling needs that monster heel. The match itself hit all the right notes despite the controversial finish and nothing else this month came close with the build and storytelling in the ring.
