Anthony’s Best of the Best.
It is now time for August 2023 best matches of the month list. Please keep in mind these are just my opinion of the best matches I saw this month and is not a definitive list and is not the official Wrestling Republic ratings and rankings.
I’m sure there are matches that I may have missed but there are only so many hours in a day and only so much wrestling I can watch. So, please feel free to suggest matches in the comments, as it is possible, I haven’t seen them or maybe they just didn’t make my cut. If I haven’t seen it and I’m able to check it out, it may make my end of year top 25 matches list. If it just didn’t make my cut, if I have time and I’m able to I’ll re-watch the match and re-consider it for my end of the year top 25 matches list.
The top 25 list at the end of the year will be in order and will be made up of my Match of the Month winners, which are guaranteed a spot, and the remaining 13 slots will be other top matches from my monthly lists.

MATCH OF THE MONTH: Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar – WWE Summerslam
For me it was between this match and Jericho/Ospreay, however, the storytelling and the blow off to this trilogy of Cody/Brock rivalry puts it over the top. Brock and Cody put together a truly compelling feud even though it is still unclear why Brock attacked Cody in the first place. Cody as the underdog that refuses to quit and in the end he not only won the feud, he received something no other rival to Brock has ever publicly received and that was the beast’s respect.
