It is now time for April 2026 best matches of the month list. Please keep in mind these are just my opinion of the best matches I saw this month and is not a definitive list and is not the official Wrestling Republic ratings and rankings.
I’m sure there are matches that I may have missed but there are only so many hours in a day and only so much wrestling I can watch. So, please feel free to suggest matches in the comments, as it is possible, I haven’t seen them or maybe they just didn’t make my cut. If I haven’t seen it and I’m able to check it out, it may make my end of year top 25 matches list. If it just didn’t make my cut, if I have time and I’m able to I’ll re-watch the match and re-consider it for my end of the year top 25 matches list.
The top 25 list at the end of the year will be in order.

MATCH OF THE MONTH: CM Punk vs Roman Reigns – WWE WrestleMania 42 – Sunday
There are certain matches that when you see them you get lost in the story and the action and it reminds you why you became a fan in the first place and this was one of those matches. Punk vs Roman is a story that is built on layers of storytelling that blurs the lines between what is scripted and what is legitimate dislike towards each other. Going into Mania this was the match that intrigued me the most and the moment those promo packages and main event entrances took place it took it to another level of a BIG FIGHT feel. I texted my buddy, Chris back home while I was in Allegiant Stadium and just asked are you getting big fight feels or is that in stadium bias and he just texted back “no this is BIG FIGHT”. Punk and Roman painted an absolutely masterpiece on the canvas on top of it and without question this was not only the match of Mania weekend for me this was so much more. This is a match that did everything it needed to and more from storytelling to just genuine entertainment as they delivered a match that deserved to go on legitimately LAST as nothing else could touch it.

I’m starting to work through this list and there is some solid stuff on here (part way through January at the moment). I’ve noticed that other than for April there is a lack of NXT matches on here. Is this a blind spot, or was there nothing on those shows that made the cut?
Honestly I try to watch as much as I can throughout wrestling and do checkout NXT every week. It is all subjective, if there is a match that you feel should have been on here please let me know and if I can I’ll go back and re-evaluate for the end of year top 25 list. Thanks for your respectful feedback.
It’s all good. I’m learning along with your list. I don’t follow much these days so your list (which I’m finding the most comprehensive) is helping me catch up on all the stuff worth watching.
I can’t recommend anything on NXT specifically as I don’t watch much of it, I was just intrigued as to why it hadn’t appeared. Good to know though, keep up the good work, I’m enjoying watching along
I’m glad you are finding the lists helpful. I try to catch as much as I can each month so my list as comprehensive and diverse as possible but there is only so many hours in a day and life getting in the way. A lot of work goes into the lists but the end of year list is the hardest to put together to try and narrow down the list to 25 and put them in order. Thanks again for enjoying the content.
