Anthony’s Best of the Best April 2023.
It is now time for my April 2023 best matches of the month list. Please keep in mind these are just my opinion of the best matches I saw this month and is not a definitive list and is not the official Wrestling Republic ratings and rankings.
I’m sure there are matches that I may have missed but there are only so many hours in a day and only so much wrestling I can watch. So, please feel free to suggest matches in the comments, as it is possible, I haven’t seen them or maybe they just didn’t make my cut. If I haven’t seen it and I’m able to check it out, it may make my end of year top 25 matches list. If it just didn’t make my cut, if I have time and I’m able to I’ll re-watch the match and re-consider it for my end of the year top 25 matches list.
The top 25 list at the end of the year will be in order and will be made up of my Match of the Month winners, which are guaranteed a spot and the remaining 13 slots will be other top matches from my monthly lists.

MATCH OF THE MONTH: Reigns vs Cody – WWE WrestleMania 39
Reigns/Cody is a match that had a lot of history with both men’s ties to Dusty Rhodes, the Bloodline being the hottest angle in the business and Cody’s passion and desire to fulfill a childhood vow to win the title his father was never able to win. It appeared to be a lock that Cody would “finish the story” and end Roman’s 900 plus day reign as champion. Although controversial Roman shockingly retained and Cody’s story was not finished. Being in the stadium and feeling that crowd and seeing that NO ONE was sitting during this match made it for me the top match of the entire weekend as these men delivered a masterpiece. I rewatched it back on Peacock weeks later and it still held up.
Historically the hardest month for me to pick a match of the month winner is always April and many of these matches may end up on my top 25 list.
