FTR, The team of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have been voted Tag Team Of The Year by the Wrestling Republic Voting Committee.
“Tag Team Of The Year” was awarded to the team of men who shown over the past twelve months that they are the best Tag Team. Being the Best Tag Team is subjective as we look at their chemistry as partners in the ring. Their accomplishments and overall ability to carry a tag team division.
FTR had won the award by receiving 7 votes.
The Usos’ trailed with 5 votes.
Wrestling Republic’s Breakout Stars in The Acclaimed had 4 Votes
And a lone vote was casted to United Empire’s Aussie Open.
Team that did not get a vote were: The Briscoes, Pretty Deadly, Motor City Machine Guns, The Young Bucks, Swerve In Our Glory and The Lucha Brothers.
“With winning multiple tag belts across multiple promotions, and having what many people calling the greatest tag team match ever, FTR being tag team of the year is a no brainer.” – Suki (Japanese News Writer & Lions Of The Republic Co-host)
“FTR has done almost everything there is to do during this year. They put on amazing performances everywhere they’d go, winning championships and having instant-classic battles with some of the toughest teams of the world. I can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for Cash & Dax.” – Tomas Gramajo (News Writer)
“FTR was easily my WR Men’s Division Tag Team of the year. The only complaint would be that they didn’t win the AEW World Tag Team Titles, but I don’t think it matters. Dax and Cash carried all the other belts and put on the majority of the best tag matches of the year. This was FTR’s year and I think they are more than deserving of this award.” – Clark Taylor (Reviewer & Republic Ramble Co Host)
“FTR is the best men’s tag team because they have demonstrated the quality of their matches. AEW fans know how good their matches are, but their long title reigns in AAA and New Japan demonstrate how highly thought of they are across the wrestling world.” – Matt Cookson (Review Writer)
“FTR has been the best tag team, not only because of the championships they have held during the year, but in each fight they show the chemistry and why they succeed in each promotion they go to.” – Gabriela Boteo (News Writer)
“There is no argument; FTR is the best tag team in the business. Their series of matches with the Briscoes this year is enough to give them the nod. Even though they haven’t played a significant role in AEW this year, they continue to show everyone that they are the best technical wrestlers in the world and can adapt to anyone’s style to accommodate theirs.” – Ignacio Pinalez (Opinion Writer & Take It To The Table Guest)
“It was a close one between FTR and Usos but FTR edged it out after their incredible match with The Briscoes at Final Battle and they’ve had banger after banger on Dynamite and Rampage both as a tag team and in singles matches. Hurry up and put the AEW titles on them TK! “ – Chaos (Host of Take It To The Table)
“Like their tribal chief, the Usos have stood atop the tag team mountain in wwe for over 500 days. They have consistently delivered especially Jey, who has grown as a performer since his feud with Roman and the bloodline run. “ – Anthony Ricciardi (Head Of Opinions)
“The Usos are the men’s tag team of the year. Some may dispute this, but the fact remains Jimmy & Jey wrestled more matches than anyone on the WWE roster in 2022. They are the ones for a reason. “ – Mark Mumby (News & Scouting Showcase Writer)
“The Usos deserve this award mainly because of their record breaking WWE Tag Team Championship run. This has been the best tag team title run in the past decade, each match has been as exciting as the one before and they have also been involved in the best storyline of the year. “ – Archie Carter (News & Opinion Writer)
“Personally, FTR has the accolades but aren’t a main focus. They have had the banger matches that I am not going to deny, but as AEW didn’t treat FTR as their most important team. I feel the Usos do deserve it because they earned it by being the must see tag team of WWE. “ – Coby Galenzoski (Head of Reviews & Co Host of Republic Ramble)
“The Usos not only held the SmackDown Tag Team Championships for the entirety of 2022, but they also won the Raw titles to Unify both tag belts. Just like Reigns, The Usos made every segment they were in must watch. The true workhorses in WWE for 2022, and my tag team of the year. “ – Ben Allison (Owner Of Wrestling Republic and Graphic Artist)
“Organic. That describes The Acclaimed, two individuals through charisma and talent, got over with the wrestling fandom. Through their raps and general fun personalities, Caster and Bowens built a true connection with their audience and through the addition of “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn. These three guys are emitting fun and energetic energy through their time on TV. With them becoming AEW World Tag Team Champions, I expect to see more great things from The Acclaimed. I mean come on, EVERYBODY LOVES THE ACCLAIMED. “ – Soul (Host of Soul Sessions & Regular Guest on Take It To The Table)
“I mean in my opinion they’re just the obvious choice because EVERYONE LOVES THE ACCLAIMED! “ – Olivia Quinlan (Head Of News)
“Achieved the most this year.” – Dakota Mayes (News Writer)
“The Acclaimed are homegrown. They have the most wins in AEW history. They have become loveable with the fans. Since their debut in 2020, they have grown as a team both in and out of the ring. “ – Savannah Gall (Head Of Scouting Showcase & News Writer)
“Aussie Open have had a breakout year. They’ve elevated the British indie tag team scene for so long, seeing them get their flowers on grander stages is so well deserved. 2023 is going to be even bigger for them. Please go out of your way to watch Aussie Open vs FTR from Royal Quest! “ – Ben Wagner (Opinion Writer & Lions Of The Republic Co-Host)
