AEW Worlds End 2024 is a strong showing for AEW. With a card that had matches that made sense for the show. With the Continental Classic coming to an end with Okada and Ospreay having another banger to add to their personal catalog. Mariah continuing her dominant reign as Women's champion. Mercedes Mone ending the year undefeated. Kris Statlander looking strong in defeat. MJF retains the ring but the Undisputed Kingdom unite fully with Adam, Roderick, Kyle, Matt and Mike. Swerve humiliated Ricochet while Takeshita overcame Hobbs almost with ease.
With Rated FTR forming to go after the Death Riders, they finally have some united competition. Kenny Omega returning as an EVP, having a staredown with Okada was electric. Christian couldn’t get his cash in but watched the Main Event like a hawk.
The show had a very solid flow, without a dragging feeling. Great match placement with the Semi’s starting and the finals being the co main event. Two major returns in the second half. A very solid crowd, and enough moments to get you excited for what’s next.

AEW Worlds End 2024 Zero Hour:
AVERAGE Toni Storm Vs Leila Grey:
This was a fine match. The crowd is definitely quiet, it’s the first match and people were coming in. Leila mentioned in her interview about learning in the NJPW LA Dojo, so she does try some technical exchanges. Working some on the arm of Toni. Once again “Rookie” Toni Storm gets the win with a small package and gets the win on the Zero Hour.
Results: Toni Storm by Pinfall via Small Package
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 2.25 Stars
ABOVE AVERAGE Jeff Jarrett Vs QT Marshall:
A relatively fine match. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing outstanding with it. Aaron Solo and Jay Lethal appear, continuing the issues between both alliances. Marshall tried to beat Jeff with his own finisher, The Stroke. Jeff ends up getting the Stroke for the win. Doesn’t look the cleanest but it made sense.
Results: Jeff Jarrett by Pinfall via Stroke
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 2.50 Stars
GOOD The Outrunners and Top Flight Vs Action Andretti, Lio Rush and Murder Machines:
It’s incredibly tough, because we have Lance Archer and Brian Cage. The Machine and the Murderhawk, two people who should be tossing any of the people around in this match. Lio, Andretti, Turbo, Magnum, Dante and Darius. Yet Lance and Cage are bumping and taking spots for them. The double bodyslam made sense, but the monster aspect of their size is not capitalized well. Lio steals the win from Lance and Cage ticking off Don Callis’ monsters.
Results: Lio Rush by Pinfall via Final Hour Frog Splash on Dante Martin

Fundamentals: 1

This was one of the better matches of the night. They have tremendous chemistry as former partners. Kyle gets his heat at times when it matters. Posing for the crowd while Will does his blade job. Milking the boos while he goes to a sadistic length with swallowing some of Will’s blood. There are once again great sequences and moments. Using the steps in a similar fashion from Full Gear. Except Ospreay got powerbombed onto the apron. The finish of Ospreay getting the win with a Styles Clash was shocking and fit the match as he just barely overcame Kyle Fletcher. Tying their PPV matches at one to one.
Results: Will Ospreay by Pinfall via Styles Clash

This is just a fine match. It made sense for this to not open the event as it was the weaker match. Okada running the ropes both ways to slap Ricochet’s bald head was a fun moment. There are good things in it but its just a relatively good match. Nothing over the top to praise about it. They have good moments but ultimately Ricochet loses.
Ricochet is then wished a Happy New Year by Swerve and Nana has Toilet Paper thrown into the ring.

GREAT Mariah May Vs Thunder Rosa – AEW Women’s World Championship, Tijuana Street Fight:

This was a relatively good match. With the street fight vibe giving them fun to work with. We saw Mariah spit Tequila into Rosa’s face. Rosa brought a pinata out to the ring that had tacks in it. May connecting with MayDay onto the tacks was a good spot. Mariah also mocking and involving Rosa’s dad in the ringside area got a solid reaction from the crowd. Rosa using the table as a way to hit a dropkick was smooth. Mariah gets advantage by using the Mexican dirt that was brought by Thunder’s Father. Throwing it into her face before hitting a piledriver through a table.
Not sure why the match was falls count anywhere though as Street Fight’s typically aren’t.
Results: Mariah May by Pinfall via Apron Piledriver Through a Table

AMAZING Adam Cole Vs MJF:

With the ankle being the injury that took Adam out before, of course it made sense for that to be the limb that is targeted. Both men did blade jobs in this match, in an alright way to try to get some heat for the match. Psychology is the clear highlight of the match. The crowd does hate MJF. There are some fun sequences regarding the Panama Sunrise.
The Kingdom guarded the Diamond Ring but MJF ended up faking an attack. Taven and Bennett get ejected as MJF goes and grabs the ring. The Ref is distracted but Adam Superkicks MJF who was wearing the diamond ring. Eventually Adam tries to use the ring but MJF kicks him low and gets a heat seeker.
After the match, The Undisputed Kingdom stand tall as they save Adam from further injury.
Results: MJF by Pinfall via Heatseeker

GREAT Konosuke Takeshita Vs Powerhouse Hobbs – AEW International Championship:

Just because Takeshita has the height, does not mean “meat” chants are warranted. This was a solid match. With Hobbs selling the knee that he had injured before. Takeshita worked on it. There was a kick out at one that probably wasn’t needed. Some fun spots and sequences. Hobbs’ big powerslam was nice. Ultimately Hobbs had to remove his knee brace but Takeshita just choked him out and hit the raging fire.
Its a solid match and well done just a little anticlimactic for a finish. One rough spot that did not look good.
Results: Konosuke Takeshita by Pinfall via Raging Fire

MUST WATCH Mercedes Mone Vs Kris Statlander – AEW TBS Championship:

Another very well done match between Mercedes Mone and Kris Statlander. Removing around the ankle and Mone being a dastardly heel, degrading and trash talking Kris during the match. Claiming that she would never beat her. Mone controls the match and creates a dynamic of Statlander having to fight from below. With the damaged ankle and bootless foot, Kris is at a disadvantage.
The crowd definitely got behind Statlander and wanted her to win. Popping for her breaking the count. Getting two F5’s and a nearfall. They trade pinfall attempts before the ending. Great spots and sequences and ultimately Mone wins with a seatbelt pin. I wouldn’t say a perfect ending for the match. Mone’s apron tombstone also was sketchy.
Results: Mercedes Mone by Pinfall via Seatbelt Pin

MUST WATCH Will Ospreay Vs Kazuchika Okada – AEW Continental Championship, Continental Classic Finals: AEW Worlds End 2024 Match Of The Night

My God, the feeling for the match when the bell rang was special. Yes it wasn’t their first match together this year. But this was their first in AEW. This was very well done, the chemistry there. Working on the past it was clear Okada could control the match. With Ospreay having a bandage around his head from his cut. The sequences and the counters were great. No complaints here. Kazuchika Okada proves to be the greatest tournament wrestler by winning this match.
Kenny Omega returns as an EVP and awards Okada the championship. Welcome back Kenny.

I think I expected more from this match personally. There is nothing that looks bad, things are smooth. Sequences worked out nicely. But it just felt underwhelming. We have a fatal four way which is no DQ and no count out. Yet The Death Riders get involved early but security have to get rid of Claudio and Yuta? We dance around the idea of just taking the title away from Moxley or egos struggling with working together? There are fun moments like a Shield bomb, but the match left a lot to be desired.
Mox was cut in the back of the head though and it was an odd cut.
The ref has several bumps, including one that brings Marina into the ring. Mox being down, Jay White hits a blade runner on her. Yuta hits a running knee and Mox hits a death rider for the win.
After the match, Rated FTR made the save for Jay White. Adam Copeland and FTR return together. Adam Copeland informing Death Riders that they were coming for them. A trios match set for Dynamite. Mox, Yuta and Claudio Vs Rated FTR.
Results: Jon Moxley by Pinfall via Death Rider on Jay White
