As reported by fightful, Cody Rhodes, current TNT Champion is a free agent, having been one since the end of 2021. He has been working for AEW while not being under contract throughout January.
According to fightful, some have known about this for several weeks now.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Cody has stated that “As of now, my future is with AEW”. He then went on to say that “AEW would be very strange without the core members of the revolution. We all still talk. We all have this admiration for each other. I can’t see myself anywhere else, and I’m very optimistic about what the future holds.
Fightful has also stated that there were some reported contract lengths in AEW that differed from what they actually were.
With him being out of contract, he has also lost status as an Executive Vice President. It is unknown whether he will resign with AEW, or will explore further options.
His wife, and AEW Co-worker, Brandi Rhodes, has removed the tag “Chief Brand Officer” from her Twitter bio.
