Even if CM Punk returns to AEW, many stars on the roster have decided they no longer want to work with him due to the trouble he’s caused.
CM Punk hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since the All Out pay-per-view, where he won the World Championship. Afterward, Punk proceeded to attack The Elite and AEW locker room at the post-show media scrum in a fiery rant.
CM Punk’s heated words resulted in a backstage brawl involving The Elite and Ace Steel and resulted in everyone getting suspended. The incident has since been dubbed ‘brawl out,’ and resulted in an investigation of who was at fault.
The investigation is said to have recently come to a close and has resulted in Ace Steel being fired. The Elite are reportedly said to be making their return soon and were reportedly at this week’s Dynamite.
On the other hand, CM Punk is heavily rumored to be on his way out of AEW. Reports are surfacing that AEW may buy out his contract as his star power is no longer worth the hassle.
For the moment, this is only speculation, but CM Punk may not have a place, even if it is false.
Will CM Punk be Allowed to return to AEW?
Even if Tony Khan decided to give Punk another chance, the rest of the locker room doesn’t want him back. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the locker room wants nothing to do with him.
Dave Meltzer has noted that multiple notable names see Punk’s value as not being worth the trouble he causes. He also revealed that many top stars no longer wanted to work with him.
Chris Jericho, in particular, is said to have told Punk personally that he was cancer to the locker room. There are some still willing to work with Punk, but the number is in the few.
It was also previously reported just this week that CM Punk’s dog was injured during the brawl out melee. However, this has since been revealed as false because Punk had grown desperate when the investigation wasn’t in his favor.
