Former ROH World Champion, and current AEW star Jay Lethal has been a guest in the TWC Show, where he spoke about this new chapter of ROH’s history and about wanting to face one of All Elite Wrestling’s top stars in the near future.
Lethal explained that he always admired Chris Jericho, since he stated that he still remembers memorizing most of Jericho’s promos and moves in the past.
“I have not been in the ring with and I was a big fan of Chris Jericho, especially during Y2J and the big countdown, … I remember me and my brother going nuts and we would memorize some of Jericho’s promos. I remember there was that one point where he had someone in the Walls of Jericho and he’d be screaming ‘I’m the king of the world! I’m the king of the world!’ I said that for years.”
Lethal continued explaining that the simple fact of getting to be around Jericho and working with him is a pleasure, while stating that ‘The Influencer’ also talks to him and shares some ideas too.
“So yeah, Jericho is definitely on the top of the list for me but just getting to be around him and work with him, if that’s all I can do, then I’m fine with that because it’s been a pleasure talking with him and him sharing some ideas with me, and he’s been nothing but great to me and it’s been incredible. But if I do get to be in the ring with him, it’s the icing on the cake.”
Jay Lethal arrived to All Elite Wrestling on November 2021, most specifically at the Full Gear PPV. He made his in-ring debut on the following episode of Dynamite, challenging ‘The Spanish God’ Sammy Guevara for the TNT Title.
After coming up short against Sammy, he wrestled at Youtube’s AEW Dark episodes and got involved in a short rivalry with Team Tazz. He is currently engaged in a rivalry with the recently crowned ROH Television Champion Samoa Joe, which saw him make an interesting heel turn.
