AEW’s first ppv event of the year is AEW Revolution and we have a stacked show ahead of us. MJF and Bryan Danielson headlining the show, along with The Elite Vs The House Of Black. Moxley and Adam Page in a Texas deathmatch. Jericho Vs Starks and Jack Perry Vs Christian Cage. This show is loaded with action and looks to kick the year off with a bang.
AMAZING Chris Jericho Vs Ricky Starks:
“Overall this was a match that needed to deliver, and Ricky Starks needed to win this because it was already puzzling that Ricky had to win a gauntlet to face Jericho when he already beat him. This was a very solid match overall, with a hot crowd. Great spots between both of them and the right person won. You can not have a better opening contest. Only thing I can complain about is the poor tape job on Ricky’s Ribs. ” – Coby G.
“This was the showcase Starks deserved after a long rivalry with Jericho, and I enjoyed both Andretti and Guevara’s spot in the match as well.” – Clark Taylor
Results: Ricky Starks by Pinfall via Roshambo
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 4.00 Stars
GREAT Christian Cage Vs Jungle Boy Jack Perry – Final Burial Match:
“Storytelling at its finest between Christian and Jack Perry. This was overall just a very solid match that the crowd was not as hot for but made up for in impeccable storytelling from the mind of Christian. The right person won the match in Jungle Boy. Even the visual of the casket going down was good for it.“ – Coby G.
“The finish was fun, sometimes campy works, and this was one of those times.” – Clark Taylor
Results: Jungle Boy Jack Perry by Burial via Closing The Casket.
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.75 Stars
MUST WATCH The Elite Vs House Of Black – AEW Trios Championship: Summary
“I was critical with The Elite Vs Death Triangle, and I have every right to be critical about a subpar build to any match that is supposed to be big. At this second, House Of Black cannot have a bad trio’s match on PPV. Everything in this match was top of the line and House Of Black winning was the right call. There were great spots and this was edge of your seat action. The celebration was slightly weird with the lights going out and someone’s kid being in Julia’s arms? ” – Coby G.
“Match of the night thus far without question, it’s hard to deny how good all 6 in this match are bell to bell.” -Clark Taylor
Results: House Of Black by Pinfall via Dante’s Inferno
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 4.50 Stars
GREAT Ruby Soho Vs Saraya Vs Jamie Hayter – AEW World Women’s Championship:
“This was a match that was better than most would have expected. I think every woman in the match had their moment to shine and Jamie retaining was the right call. Solid spots and the crowd was truly behind Hayter. The post match heel turn was what is going to continue to keep people interested as the Originals Vs Outsiders story is continuing.” – Coby G.
“Hayter retained but there is no doubt the story of the match was Ruby Soho turning on the AEW Originals.” -Clark Taylor
Results: Jamie Hayter by Pinfall via Crucifix Roll Up.
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.50 Stars
AMAZING Hangman Adam Page Vs Jon Moxley Texas Death Match:
“Hardcore wrestling is either your thing, or it isn’t. Hangman Vs Moxley did the right thing and crescendoed this rivalry with a brutal match. Both men bled and had brutal spots. Hangman got the win which was my expectation. Crowd was hot for it.”
“That is how you finish a rivalry” – Clark Taylor
Results: Hangman by Submission via Chain Assisted Choke.
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 4.00 Stars
GOOD Samoa Joe Vs Wardlow – AEW TNT Championship:
“Weakest match of the show, with there being some gelling issues. The most interesting thing was the finish being a submission. ”
“This is a match that could easily be lost in the shuffle however Hobbs vs. Wardlow is as intriguing as ever.” – Clark Taylor
Results: Wardlow by Submission via Rear Naked Choke
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.00 Stars
GOOD Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett Vs The Acclaimed Vs Danhausen and Orange Cassidy Vs The Gunn Club – AEW World Tag Team Championships:
“Although this match did not need to be a fatal four way, the crowd was electric and overall there were just fun spots. This was just an entertaining match that had comedy done well as well as the world’s largest famouser.”
“I didn’t want this when they booked it, and I still don’t.” -Clark Taylor
Results: The Gunn Club by Pinfall via 3:10 To Yuma
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 3.25 Stars
PERFECT MJF Vs Bryan Danielson – AEW World Championship, 60 Minute Iron Man Match:
“It’s sometimes quite easy to screw up an iron man match, especially a 60 minute one. At the end of the day, MJF and Bryan knocked every expectation out of the water. Hot crowd, great wrestling, great storytelling, top notch psychology and innovative spots all around. AEW’s first five star match of the year. ”
“Every question I had going in was answered, and both men more than delivered, hard to deny that this match exceeded expectations.” – Clark Taylor
Results: MJF By Submission via Lebell Lock In Sudden Death to Win 4 – 3
Coby Galenzoski WR Star Rating – 5.00 Stars
