Adam Cole has revealed that a major element in him gambling to leave WWE and instead joining AEW, was so he could spend more time with his long term girlfriend, Britt Baker.
In a recent appearance at the Motor City Comic-Con, Cole spoke on why he decided to turn down a new contract offer from WWE, and instead join Tony Khan’s AEW.
Cole revealed that one of the biggest reasons that he made the jump, was because his long-term girlfriend, Britt Baker, was signed to AEW.
“One of the biggest things was getting to be around and see Britt a lot more” Cole stated. “At the time, our schedules were so different that there’d be some times that I’d see her for maybe half a day, one day a week. Sometimes I wouldn’t see her for weeks at a time.
Adam Cole joined All Elite Wrestling last September at the All Out PPV, which took place from the Now Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
The appearance came as a shock to many, following Cole reportedly meeting with WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon to discuss a new contract.
Adam Cole originally became popular with many professional wrestling fans, during Ring Of Honor run, which took place between 2009 until 2017.
However Cole really reached a new level of popularity after signing with WWE in 2017 and becoming a huge star on WWE’s developmental show, NXT.
During his WWE run, Cole led the popular ‘Undisputed Era’ faction, alongside Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, and Rodrick Strong.
Both Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly have since also joined Cole in AEW.
The Undisputed Era was consistently a top merchandise seller on WWE Shop, making their departures a huge loss for WWE.
