Wrestlemania 39 Night 1 was a fantastic show that saw Rhea Ripley win the Smackdown Women’s Championship, Austin Theory beat John Cena and Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn win the Undisputed Tag Team Championships.
It’s now time for my 5 things we learnt article. If you haven’t read my previous 5 things we learnt articles, this is how it works. After each RAW, Smackdown and WWE Premium Live Event, I will release an article which is basically just the five big things that happened on the show and my opinion on it.
Hopefully I will be able to do these articles for AEW as well, but there is only so much wrestling I can watch each week so, at the moment I will only be making these articles for WWE.
So, here are 5 things we learnt from Wrestlemania 39 Night 1.
5. Austin Theory makes John Cena believe in him

Wrestlemania kicked off with Austin Theory taking on John Cena for the United States Championship. Cena made Theory tap out, but the referee was down and didn’t see it. Then Theory gave Cena a low blow and hit him with A Town Down for the win.
This was a good way to kick off Wrestlemania. This was a big moment for Theory because this was a real test to see how he could cope in a big match like this, against a star like John Cena. But he did very well in the match I thought, and he was the right winner. It would’ve been nice to see Cena win of course, but Theory can become a star in this business, so he needed this win.
It’s so great to see Cena back in the ring again, I know he might not have too many matches left in his career, so we should really appreciate it every time he comes back to WWE. I hope he comes back for a match against Cody Rhodes at some point though, that is a rivalry I would love to see.
