This year’s Royal Rumble was a very entertaining show that saw Cody Rhodes and Rhea Ripley book their places for Wrestlemania, Uncle Howdy make a big impact and Bianca Belair retain her RAW Women’s Championship.

It’s now time for my 5 things we learnt article. If you haven’t read my previous 5 things we learnt articles, this is how it works. After each RAW, Smackdown and WWE Premium Live Event, I will release an article which is basically just the five big things that happened on the show and my opinion on it.

Hopefully I will be able to do these articles for AEW as well, but there is only so much wrestling I can watch each week so, at the moment I will only be making these articles for WWE.

So, here are 5 things we learnt from the Royal Rumble.

We kicked off the show with the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Cody Rhodes and Gunther were the last two in the match and even after taking a crazy amount of chops from Gunther, Cody was still able to pick up the win. Other notable moments in the match was, Dominik Mysterio beating up Rey so he couldn’t get in the match, Edge’s return and Logan Paul eliminating Seth Rollins from the match.

I really enjoyed this Rumble match, there wasn’t many surprise entrants except from Booker T, but it kept me interested from number one to number 30. Sheamus and Gunther kicking off the match was a great idea considering their history together and Cody winning the match was the right call. He deserves this win and hopefully he can go on to Wrestlemania and beat Roman Reigns.

Special mention for Gunther as well because his performance was outstanding in this match, he lasted 70 minutes in this year’s Rumble match which is a new record.
